The NCAA is announcing the punishments tomorrow. Let's get a pool going, what do they get?

I will go with Harbaugh and Stallions being Show-Caused, that is a no-brainer.
Sherron gets 4 games
Two-year Probation
Fine
The '23 Natty stands, however.

Looks like I was pretty close. They are talking that the fine could exceed 20 million. Ouch. Still, some donor will just write a check. Harbaugh will never coach in college again, that's for sure.

U-M gets major fine, add to Moore suspension

The NCAA's Committee on Infractions ruled on Michigan's advanced scouting case on Friday with the school getting a significant fine including the loss of two years of postseason football revenue but avoiding punitive penalties like a postseason ban.

For a blue-blood program like Michigan, temporary revenue loss is easily surmountable, and suspending coaches for a few games is all about optics. Irrelevant.

If they really wanted to be serious about this, the NCAA would have cut scholarships by half for 5 years, and imposed a cap on NIL spending to next to nothing for the same amount of time. THAT would have stung much more than this.
 


Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll should have a statue of them together, in a smug embrace, out front of a newly created National Hall of Shame, laughing their backsides off as they stand waste deep in a pile of NFL money. The caption in front of the statue would read:
WHO SAID CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER?
Probably the same chump who said
WINNERS NEVER CHEAT AND CHEATERS NEVER WIN

Strip them of that national title!

Treat the football team like the (not so) Fab 5:

The NCAA imposed significant penalties on the University of Michigan basketball program due to the "Fab Five" scandal, which involved improper benefits provided to players by booster Ed Martin. Former college basketball coach and current host of "Don't @ Me" on OutKick, Dan Dakich, recently posted an article from Yahoo! Sports and slammed the Michigan program for the controversies that continue to plague them.

"Harbaugh's regime @ UM is the most corrupt, most dishonest, most despicable in college football history." Dakich posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
 


The NCAA is so feckless that they don't know what the hell to do. They know they are about 5 minutes from being fired from major college football anyway. I personally don't like punishments that hurt the kids and coaches that are there now, and largely leaves the masterminds untouched. That said, there is only so much the NCAA can do to someone who is not in their system other than to ban them from coming back, which they functionally did with Harbaugh and Stallion.

They should have show caused Sherron for both knowing about this and not reporting it, and then for covering it up with erasing texts. That said, I doubt he was all that involved given that the sign stealing was set up to benefit the defense for the most part.

I struggle with vacating the Natty. There is no evidence they cheated in that game or the playoffs. The cheating probably helped them get there, but its so hard to quantify. I know this is weaksauce to some, but I would love to see a big fat asterick in the official records citing to the incident and the report, and straight out saying that this championship, while still in the annuls of NCAA records, is tainted. Give us non-Michigan fans something to throw into those smug dicks' faces. But, vacating a nattie does little. They won the game and the players and fans saw that.

As noted, there probably isn't a fine big enough to really move the meter with a school like Michigan.
 


The fact Harbaugh is even mentioned is laughable. There is/was nothing, and I mean nothing, they could hand down that affects him in any way shape or form. That POS is doing nothing but laughing about this as we speak.
