[h=4]7. Iowa (9-2)[/h] LAST WEEK became Iowa state champs with 80-73 win over Northern Iowa, which might not sound like much but UNI almost got Louisville and Memphis and is a top 100 team on Kenpom so it's something.
THING Iowa's three point shooting picked up significantly, which was good because they were 9 for 24 from two. Roy Devyn Marble was 14 of 19 from the free throw line.
THING 2 Melsahn Basabe continues to regress. For the second straight year his minutes and ORtg are down.
THING THEY ARE LIKE Michigan under Beilein until this year.


I also chuckled at their Wisconsin blurb...

[/h]LAST WEEK had reasonable win over UW-Green Bay, which dropped them three spots on Kenpom.
THING SERIOUSLY GO AWAY
THING THEY ARE LIKE i don't even want to talk about it
 


Its hard to be familiar with every team...their Basabe blurb would be an example of just looking at stats. Basabe is playing so much better and more active than he was a year ago, it's not even close..and he's having fun.

I thought the same thing. His head is definitely more in the game than it was last year.

Thought the same thing when I read it. If you can't watch them all (who can?), stats can lie.

Good example is UNI's 2 pt FG% vs. Iowa and the FTA by Iowa in the game.
Iowa conceded UNI's layups as to not give up the threes and then UNI fouled. UNI didn't shoot the 2ptFG as well as the stats say.
 


7th will be good enough for a bid to the NCAA tournament. The conference will be very entertaining basketball this year. I'll be watching more non-Iowa games than I have in a long time.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that line. Basabe is playing pretty well. Or at the very least not worse than last year.

As a Madison resident and admitted Becky Badger hater, I love this stuff. I would like nothing more than Bo's head to explode when they score 37 points a game.

Basabe looks so much better this year. Even on the days when he puts up his better numbers the offense won't run through him because that isn't his game. His frosh yr we ran the offense through him at times and so people thought he was that type of post. He needs to be the 3rd or 4th option on the floor and focus on hustle points.
