I really feel that the loss to Caldwell in the final last year prevents him from being the greatest performer in the history of Iowa athletics. Had he won that, he would have won the Hodge for the second straight year and who knows what would have happened from there.

Ugh that Caldwell loss just urks me still! lol. But that is just amazing. To think of ALL the great Iowa wrestlers that have come through! He is definitely one of the all time greatest ever. So my question Jon, who is the best all time (at iowa) in your opinion?

History of Iowa athletics? If he had won v. Jenkins, does that even make him the best Iowa wrestler of all time? Maybe, maybe not.

I would put him at a tie with Barry Davis for the best at Iowa if that had happened. As it is, i'd probably rank him 3rd or so... behind Brands and Davis.

I have taken a couple of friends to carver to watch wrestling over the years. They didn't really appreciate wrestling but when they saw him wrestle they would say "y doesn't everyone wrestle like that guy." Exactly is what I would say. It was obvious to everybody, wrestling fan or not, how dominating he was! He will be missed.

How about this? How many wrestling Hawks are 4 time Big Ten Champs? Ok, I'll answer this one - only 10 4 time big 10 champs, and Iowa has 7 of them. And no, Brands are not one of them. Lincoln Mac got one his true freshman year, and he ended up with 3.
