Medical Hardship official details

That says nothing new. The people who are so illiterate and stupid that they can't read simple english will still think that McCall can redshirt. I don't know if their parents were cousins or if they grew up under power lines, but they are just too damn dumb to ever understand. Just stop trying.

You can't fix stupid. :)

I know he can not redshirt but, if he does go for medical hardship waiver and is approved, what will you be saying then???

Medical Hardship Waivers.
Documentation standards should
assist conferences and institutions in
designing a medical treatment
protocol that satisfies all questions of
incapacitation and reflects such in the
records. To clarify:
• hardship waiver: A hardship waiver
deals with a student-athlete’s
seasons of competition and may
only be granted if a student-athlete
has competed and used one of the
four seasons of competition.
• extension waiver: An extension
waiver deals with time on a
student-athlete’s eligibility clock
and may be granted if, within a
student-athlete’s period of
eligibility (five years or 10
semesters), he or she has been
denied more than one participation
opportunity for reasons beyond the
student-athlete’s and the
institution’s control.
In order to demonstrate that an injury
or illness prevented competition and
resulted in incapacitation for the
remainder of the playing season, an
institution needs to provide objective
documentation to substantiate the
incapacitation. Three key
components need to be included in
this documentation:
1. Contemporaneous diagnosis of
injury/illness;
2. Acknowledgement that the
injury/illness is incapacitating;
and
3. Length of incapacitation.
For more information about
medical hardship waivers, read the
complete article at NCAA.org/
health-safety or contact the
NCAA’s student-athlete
reinstatement staff.

Based on the bylaws. This should be a no brainer denial of a hardship. If he gets one than Iowa pulled one over.

I see a giant clusterf*** on the horizon concerning McCall.

Not really, it's cut and clear.

McCall has been granted full participation, meaning the injury is no longer incapacitating. Therefore, he is not eligible for a medical hardship waiver. If his ankle did not heal and he did not get well until after the season, he could file for it. In this case, though, he is cleared to play, the doctors have (presumably) documented it, and therefore he cannot file for a medical hardship waiver.

You might want to send KF a note on this, seems like he's stupid.

=====

Q. Is the plan still to use McCall this year?
COACH FERENTZ: We're hoping to. Yeah, we're hoping to. Hopefully this week will present that opportunity.

Q. If he wanted to red shirt now, could he?
COACH FERENTZ: Yeah. He's been out a ton. He's got an X-ray that would prove a pretty legitimate injury. The real surprise is that he has a chance to come back, and we'll just see how things go.

If it is that clear cut, then that is what I meant by a cluster, letting this season slip away for this kid.

However, based on Ferentz's press conference comments, they seem to think he can redshirt. I'd be hard-pressed to think they didn't check this out first, but then, I'm not there.

All Ferentz needs to say is McCall did practice based on that he didn't believe he was in game shape. Get the team physician to agree and bingo....medical redshirt granted.
