Media on USC

I have always thought the media have defended cheaters. I have listened to a number of reports on the USC sanctions. Some said the NCAA was trying to set an example. Not one said USC got what they deserved.

Exactly.

They have talked about how this is going to devastate the program and keep them from competing for 5-7 years. Well no **** people, that's the point. If you don't want to be punished don't protect cheaters. I feel a bit for the players, but anyone remotely connected to college football for the last four years has known there was an investigation and should have thought about that before trying to get their slice of the pie. There were plenty of interviews I saw with recruits via all-american games where they talked about the investigation, yet the players committed there. Time to face the consequences for hooking up with whore that is USC.

The worst part of the whole things is that turds like Carroll and Holtz can do this at a school and slide on to the next gig leaving a swath of destruction behind while pocketing millions.

There needs to be some sanction applied to a school that would hire a guy that caused this kind of pain somewhere else.

You're desperate for a winner at any cost? OK, Hire Cheaty McCheatypants, but you're only getting 80 scholarships for his first five years on the job.

Tim Floyd has slipped away and now is the new coach at UTEP....ripoff.
Carroll parlayed his USC cheating into huge NFL bucks in Seattle.

Good guys do finish last,it seems.

The craziest part is that the cheating teams are typically teams with the most "tradition"... makes you wonder how they got all that tradition in the first place.

dadynasty your exactly right!

makes you proud kf is our coach cuz god knows he hasn't done stuff like this!

we gotta pick kids off the streets and hope they don't get arrested before football starts

Yea I heard a guy on the Foxsports radio this afternoon talking about this. He had a poll going:

Do you think USC's punishment was too harsh? Yes or No.

That's a funny way of wording a poll. You can tell exactly what he thinks. I would say it's not harsh enough, I think they should have a TV blockout to accompany their two bowlless years along with the scholarships and anything else that was thrown at them. They cheated, now they have to suffer the consequences.

I would be really ****** if I was an Auburn fan. Wasn't 2004 the year they went undefeated but USC got the Nat'l Championship? Not only did they get quasi-screwed back in '04 but fast forward to now and it turns out the NC Trjoans were cheating and are stripped of the NC only for it to remain vacant. I think they could go ahead and give it to Auburn. If that was the year - too lazy to look it up.

Hey, Cosity82...

Wasn't that year with Auburn the year they were under sanctions and couldn't play in a bowl game? They won like 20 straight games during the stretch where they were under suspension from the NCAA.

Had to look it up, definitely wouldn't be taking a NC away from one team jsut to give to another who was under sanctions. But from what I saw, Auburn beat V Tech in teh Sugar that year - didn't see where they were under any sanctions.

No; you're about a decade off there. In 1993, Auburn went undefeated; however, they were under sanctions, so they didn't even get to play in the SEC title game, let alone a bowl game. They probably would have been the national champs in 1993 without the sanctions.

I've always hated USC. Don't know why, just an irrational hatred. However, I've always wanted to say this to them and now... I think I can.

USC will be in the national title hunt within 4 years. A 2 year hiatus from bowling is nothing. Losing 10 schollies each year for the next 2 years is nothing. USC will just load up when the extra schollies become available again. There are many in USC country that will not feel any pain.
