McDermott First Team AA

His dad knew exactly what kind of player he could be. He just didn't want his son to jump onto a sinking ship out of loyalty.

Congrats to him, who was that other kid he played with in high school, his name escapes, me but wasn't he supposed to be an all-american at least twice by now? LOL

Should not be allowed to make AA from the MVC.

This is ridiculous. And he did put up similar numbers in his games against larger conference schools. He was basically a 20-10 guy in his games against the btn, acc, and sec. And you can throw in Wichita St also, as they were ranked in the top 15.

Would never have thought watching him in high school that he would turn out to be the better player than Barnes, but he is.

I am sure if Barnes played in the MVC on a team that is not loaded with talent everywhere he would put up better #'s to.

I guess I think the best player on a team that was ranked in the top 25 most of the season, that is having a dominant statistical season, should always be considered for the AA team. And I am going to go out on a limb and say that all btn and acc schools would welcome Doug McDermott on their team.

Would any team welcome McDermott onto their roster? Absolutely. Would many, if any programs trade Barnes for McDermott straight up? Not likely.

I'd take Barnes any day of the week.

I'd take McDermott any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Now watcha got college boy?:)

Why? My guess is you're basing it strictly on the level of competition he would play on a night in, night out basis. I think he was consistently dominant throughout the year to warrant his inclusion. I think he also put up solid numbers when he played against teams from the power conferences.

I wasn't comparing Harrison and McDermott. However, I am not so sure that this isn't closer than you're making it sound. Harrison is not leaps and bounds more talented player than McDermott. He is probably more athletic than McDermott, but McDermott is a better rebounder, shoots free throws better, shoots threes better, and has a much better field goal percentage. And you can say the level of competition influenced this, and I am sure it did to an extent, but his FG% and 3PT% are so much better than Barnes that a conference change would not have made up for this. McDermott is a better shooter and rebounder than Barnes.
