McCaffery: New Iowa-Indiana date ‘probably be settled’ on Thursday

Play Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and we should go 4-0. The first 2 games are being played as scheduled. Indiana shouldn't be tough...no depth and also playing a compacted schedule. Purdue isn't likely to beat us at Carver...only road win is Illinois. Playing next Thursday doesn't worry me at all. I'm looking at 12-4 going into East Lansing.

This would be a good middle ground, I guess, but I don't know if you can just "move" the Purdue game to 3/2. I think it might have been one of the "flex" games earlier in the year (like Illinois), but once it's set I don't know if it can be moved. I guess the game is televised on BTN, so maybe the league can make it work.

I agree, that would be the best possible situation, fair to the Hawks. one would think The Big would want the Hawks to finish as high as possible to boost the prestige of the Big ten in the Tournament.....

Just have to switch the Indiana Ohio State game to Saturday the first. They are to blame for the game not being played on the night of the game elsewhere or the next day after the woman's game.....

Wisconsin - Plenty of time to prepare and should win

@ Minnesota - Changes don't impact this game...should win

@ Indiana - Prep already done and deeper rotation...should win

Purdue - Home game and PU's only road win was at IL...should win

@ Michigan State - Plenty of time to rest and prepare

I don't see this schedule negatively impacting us...benefits us against Indiana IMO.

I agree here. Iowa's depth is really going to help now. As long as Iowa and IU have the same amount of break time between games it shouldn't be a negative on the Hawkeyes.

Good point on Purdue. If there is any game remaining on our schedule that I would want as last in that string of four games, at home vs. Purdue would be the one.

Looks like a 2/27 game would mean Indiana would be playing 3 games in 6 days (compared to our 3 in 5), but I'm not sure that really gives them any significant advantage in terms of "freshness".

This is simply bad luck for the Hawks. It is unreasonable to expect them to play Wisky on sat, travel to Minny on Monday, travel back to IC on Tuesday, then travel to IU on Wednesday, beat them on their court, then travel back to IC on Thrusday, and be ready to beat PU on Saturday. When are they going to attend class next week? Maybe Monday and Friday? If Delany gives a crap about academics, he would force it to the 10th, when they could travel on Sunday, and make classes on Tues, Wed, and Thursday.

Like with the snowout vs Nebraska last year, with the resulting loss at neb, this will cost Iowa its shot at glory...last year, the NCAA tourney, this year, the Big Ten title.....it is a shame.

You would think that Iowa would go directly from Minneapolis to Indiana on Tuesday night after the game or Wednesday during the day. They probably can't get direct to Bloomington but sure they can to Indianapolis and then drive. No reason to go back to IC until Thursday night.

You would think that part of the discussions the last 2 days is finding a place for Iowa's players to be able to do school work and have real practice while on the road with electronic equipment available for coaches to conduct scouting and game plans etc.

But then again who knows. Iowa's higher ups in the athletic department have made head scratching moves in the past.

Perhaps right now the most important thing is the Wisconsin game. We Must win that one, would be a serious blemish if we lose at home and twice to the Badgers. One game at a time starting with the Badgers.....

As Jimmy Jackson said: The Hawks are the only team in the Big Ten that has the depth and balance to handle the situation.....

My problem with this is the fact that they're using a strength of ours to say "it's ok that you may get screwed as a result of this...you're team's made for it."

I don't like it. 4 games in 8 days still seems excessive. Why not the 10th, as Johnny Website proposed?
You know Purdue is gonna be chomping at the bit to get us at the end of that stretch. They'll be playing like a bunch of madmen!

If you don't like 4 games in 8 days why would you want 5 games in 9 days if it is played on March 10th

IL - 3/8
@IU - 3/10
BTT - 3/14, 3/15, 3/16

And if we don't finish in top four it could turn into 6 games in 9 days.

I know this wasn't geared toward me, but my take on it, but other teams schedules did not have them playing 4 games in 8 days so Iowa shouldn't have to either. My concern at this point isn't either post season tournament whether it be B1G or NCAA, but were in the hunt for a conference championship. I simply see it as a disadvantage either way you break it down that the other teams were battling with don't have to face.

I don't think it would be illogical by the conference to move the Purdue game back a day to attempt to accomodate the rescheduling of the Indiana game.

Life can suck and be unfair.

some other team had a makeup game shoe-horned into their schedule:

feb 18 away
feb 20 away (rival)
feb 22 home (top 10)
feb 25 home

as i've said, indiana should be the one that suffers the most by this. they aren't. the Iowa game will start a 3 game home stand for them over a 7 day period.

I"m hearing that they found more loose panels in Assembly Required Hall, at least that's what ESPN is reporting.

That fact is from Glass's presser yesterday and more than 24 hours old. It's an AP story from last evening. Not seeing much new today except one account said the loose plates may be more than cosmetic. Glass had said yesterday they thought the plates WERE cosmetic.

Also, I think it's important to note that that was sort of an impromptu news conference yesterday to address questions from the gaggle of reporters who were hanging around. So it's very possible -- likely, in fact -- that Glass and the head of their facilities didn't know everything the engineers or outside crews hired to address this knew.

It is interesting that we are not hearing any more about Assembly Hall or the makeup game today. Could be the engineers have found something more serious and are investigating further. But that would be only (hopeful) speculation on my part.

"Johnny Website" is not to be confused with "Jonny Guido" who made the call early on that this game will be played next Thursday at Assembly Hall. I wonder what the hang up is with the negotiations? I can't believe with all of the connections this and other boards have that there has been no leak of any info.

Did they actually play the women's game there last night? If so, and if they did find more "potential" for damage and that "potential damage" is more sturctural, I would be effing livid if I was a fan that attended that game, not to mention players, coaches, etc.

With fewer in attendance, they roped off the areas under the loose plates. Not sure if all the loose plates were removed...if not, then yes, this could still be dangerous.

Yes, and they were stupid to allow the women's game to be played last night.
