McCaffery: New Iowa-Indiana date ‘probably be settled’ on Thursday

If 3 games in 5 days is the best deal they were being offered, I would tell them NO deal, and make the Commissioner's office make the call. If that's what they end up deciding, then it's on the Big Ten.

I just like the idea of moving Indiana up a day as a small penalty for causing this mess. Also, are we sure this game won't be on BTN?

BTN already has the Wisky/PSU game at 11 AM on Sunday and women's games at 1, 3 and 5 PM.

Maybe it could be a 7PM BTN game but I would think it is bound for CBS.

Not sure how many games BTN gets per weekend or any more details.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but the Purdue game is listed as March 1/2 on the Bball poster. There must be some flexibility there.

Maybe the Hawks should just forfeit themselves and make a statement.
Telling IU basically go to heck. I know this sounds terrible, but all this is ridiculous.

It was undecided between the two when the schedule came out but since then the networks have picked the games and time slots. As of now Iowa/Purdue is 715PM on Saturday March 1.

Are you 12 years old?

The stupid nicknames you have for teams coupled with the rational displayed above makes me think you maybe not be a teenager yet.

SIAP. From article:

“This whole thing will probably be settled by about (Thursday) afternoon,†McCaffery said. “We’re working towards a solution that’s amenable to everybody.

“We’ll probably play them sometime next week.â€

It’s assumed the game will take place Feb. 27, the only real workable date between the schools but nothing is official.

No matter what they do it's a screw job by Indiana and the big 10 not stepping in and having the game the next day in Indianapolis.

I don't like it. 4 games in 8 days still seems excessive. Why not the 10th, as Johnny Website proposed?
You know Purdue is gonna be chomping at the bit to get us at the end of that stretch. They'll be playing like a bunch of madmen!

This is simply bad luck for the Hawks. It is unreasonable to expect them to play Wisky on sat, travel to Minny on Monday, travel back to IC on Tuesday, then travel to IU on Wednesday, beat them on their court, then travel back to IC on Thrusday, and be ready to beat PU on Saturday. When are they going to attend class next week? Maybe Monday and Friday? If Delany gives a crap about academics, he would force it to the 10th, when they could travel on Sunday, and make classes on Tues, Wed, and Thursday.

Like with the snowout vs Nebraska last year, with the resulting loss at neb, this will cost Iowa its shot at glory...last year, the NCAA tourney, this year, the Big Ten title.....it is a shame.

Another idea is Iowa could probably do a split squad. Send the bench to Bloomington on Thursday for the W and leave the starters home to rest.

I like this. Stick a crappy schedule on Jim Delany.

The fact that its taking this long makes me thinky we didn’t get what we wanted and are banking on the B1G to cut us a sweet deal.

I would say we must not have been happy with what Ind. wanted to do or this would be over by now. Wish I had confidence the Delany would cut us a sweet deal

As long as they move the Iowa games against Purdue back to Sunday March 2nd this is the best possible deal Iowa was going to get. Go out and win 4 games in a little over a week and make a statement. The games will be there to be won and this team will go out and take them.

^^This^^

Want to make a splash? Want to get national exposure right before the selection committee starts their work? Want to vault into the top ten?

Here is our chance.

Unfair? Oh, probably. Oh well.
Doable? Very.
Big upside? Absolutely.

Flip side is if we get flat worn out and drop a game we shouldn't, its not good news.

This all should have been decided by now. We aren't going to hear anything until tomorrow guys.

Have to agree to disagree. If we play flat one game and lose, I think the conscience will be...."They were worn down by a scheduling glitch." I honestly don't see a downside to this.
