McCabe in at 2:56

Actually the stats comparison is pretty close between Jo and Bawinkle:
MPG PPG FG % 3 pt. FG
JO 17.5 5.5 35% 33.6%
DB 16.2 3.5 36% 36%

The difference appears that JO takes 1-2 more shots per game that Devon did over their careers. Jo spends a lot of time on the floor vs. man-to-man, doing absolutely nothing.

Once again, pointing to offensive statistics as though they are the be-all, end-all of playing time. JO is a MUCH better defender than DB was, both on and off the ball. JO is a better passer, ball handler, rebounder and decision maker. Of course, none of this shows up in the statistics you pointed out. But then, go ahead and make your comparisons via numbers. And also know there is absolutely no way to quantify intangibles. Coaches know that some players bring more than numbers to the game. It's fans who look at numbers and hilite reels.

I was telling a friend right before the timeout when I saw McCabe sitting on the sidelines ready to come in that when he enters after the timeout he'll foul someone in the first 10 seconds.. unfortunately he did. He tries to create opportunities that he has no skill set for. Frustrates me beyond belief. I'm still wondering why he was in and not Gabe especially with us needing those rebounds.

Ha you must sit right behind me. Either that or a lot of people were saying the same exact thing.

Trying to compare Oglewinkel with Bawinkel and place it in a positive light is like trying to tell us who the tallest midget is. In the end, they are still midgets.

That 'extra special' treatment isn't getting other players open or creating better looks for the other 4 on the floor. In fact, I can make an argument that our offense stalls and takes on a life of it's own when Oglewinkel enters the game. He can't create his own so nearly every one of the Hawks are setting screens for the kid to curl around. It's almost like they are focusing on getting him his shot at the detriment of moving the ball like they normally do. We did the same thing last year.

You are actually making some good points. If other teams make it their sole mission to shut him down and our other players benefit because of it, then its worth it. I'm not sure that's the case. You're right, when he's in it looks like our entire offense is based on getting him shots.

I don't put the offense stalling on OGLESBY (I capitalized it because of how poor you are at spelling it) it is more that he plays when marble is at the point and marble makes the offense stall when he is at pg. I would rather see marble log some min at the 3 to allow jo time with gesell.

I find it rather hilarious that you have a post like this and dont even spell Oglesby's name right.

DeRp.

I tend to think the coach knows his players well enough to know who should be in the game. But I have to admitt haveing the same result over and over is getting pretty old. Gabe is playing well but I thought Woody had one of his better games too.

You would think Fran knows what hes doing but in this case it is clearly the wrong move.

Woody and or Gabe have never visibly contributed to a loss at the end, Mcabe has done so almoast if not every time he is put at the 5 to close a game.

Hes is short and unathletic, he is simply not physically capable of playing that position.

How did Valentine get his dunk? Gabe went for a mediocre head fake. He needs to play better position defense (which I've said all season) and not go for the blocked shot. Blocked shots are NOT defense, they are a last resort.

Ive argued that point too, but the solution is not Mcabe, he simply gets absued.

I am not a fan of Frans no center line ups. In both the michigan and MSU losses, after having good first halves where we take advantage of our length inside, we switch things up, play small, matching what our smaller oponents are doing, and end up losing. Fran, quit doing that.

I'm guessing every other B1G coach knows that if you need a cheap foul run it at or near Zach.
So, why does Fran keep putting him into a situation for him, and the Hawks to fail? Fouls too easy. Isn't hitting his shots.. Tries to go down low to score. Can't rebound. Heck, if Fran needs an outside shot, put in the freshman, Jok.

Fran's not too bright. Add the temper tantrums that give him technicals.

Zach is definitely my goat this year. I have one every season. The 1 guy I just wish rode the bench more. Don't get me wrong, I love him and he is an effort guy... but I think he searches for his shots rather then let the game and flow come to him. He's rarely our # offensive threat on the floor, but acts like he is every time he touches the ball. Drives me nuts, but I see the value and the thought process of having him on the floor in crucial moments of games. He's a senior and he's earned it, but he hurts us more times then not this year.
