McCabe in at 2:56

McCabe has sucked since December. Good effort guy. Anything he gives is gravy but you have to stop betting on the come and get your athletic center, who also happens to have been your most consistent, all-around player that sparked the team in the last 2 games, on the floor for some PRODUCTION. Uthoff isn't far behind.

It really was very bad coaching regarding Gabe on the bench in lieu of McCabe.

He came in, missed an easy layup that he waited for the defender and got blocked, then gave up a basket, then came down and turned it over, then fouled on a drive and fouled out. If anyones minutes need to be reduced, its not Clemmons', its mccabe's.

Exactly, if he makes a decent play on that, he goes to the free throw line and Valentine goes to the bench with his 5th foul. Almost like Valentine was going to land on top of him and surely get the foul, but McCabe stepped out of the way and bailed him out, then left an easy block for Costello. MSU had their two best forwards out of the game, they were especially vulnerable in that area, and Fran either neglected or refused to exploit the advantage there.

Iowa got a great look and a tip in chance, that was played perfectly.

McCabe late was a huge mistake.

Disagree you can set up a two man game with marble and white and run oglesby off some screens to an open area and get better options. School yard basketball won't beat a team as well coached as msu.

I was telling a friend right before the timeout when I saw McCabe sitting on the sidelines ready to come in that when he enters after the timeout he'll foul someone in the first 10 seconds.. unfortunately he did. He tries to create opportunities that he has no skill set for. Frustrates me beyond belief. I'm still wondering why he was in and not Gabe especially with us needing those rebounds.

Mcabe is not hurting the team, Fran is hurting the team by playing him.

There is just no reason to have him out there when u have so many other better options.

Mccabes 5th foul was killer. As a senior he needs to avoid that foul when Iowa needed a key stop.

Bigger mistake was not using a timeout to setup a play for the last play.

Don't have a problem with not calling the TO. Hawks should know by now what they're going to do and who's going to run the play with time running out and needing one basket to tie or win. Why give Izzo time to set up defense? Dev got into the lane, just didn't get the basket or the call, Mel's tip didn't go in. Dem's the breaks.

Not sure why Olesani didn't have most of the minutes in that game.

This. Gabe has developed into a far bigger asset than Fran is utilizing at this point. He grabs rebounds, blocks shots, blocks out their bigs, makes FTs when he goes to the line.

99 times out of 100 our chances are better running the play with MSU's legs aching, not sure how to defend, then if they have 30 seconds to a minute to take a breather and set up their defense.

McCabe is terrible. Sure he's a senior, but he's as big of a bonehead now as he was as a freshman.
I thank McCabe for his effort,he was a small part of getting Iowa rebuilt. The great news is that he is not talented enough to play on this team (except for mop up time) and has no business playing when game is on the line, period.
I look forward to having his minutes reserved for better players beginning next year. Unfortunately, Fran has a mild crush on him and is blinded by that, otherwise he would be picking splinters.
