Someone on cyclonefanatic claims that May is looking to transfer after this year. Has anybody else heard of this? I think its nothing.

I posted this same question on the OS and got accosted and the post taken down immediately. My friend said that he had heard it earlier in the day on talk radio and that it was purely speculative. But now I am growing concerned, because they seem to have more details on the clone site. I still think it is probably BS. But I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to go. They look miserable out there

Don't think this rumor is true but if he wants out and would want to play for a winning team, he might have reason to go to UNI. His sisters play(ed) volleyball for UNI. This rumor may (no pun intended) have legs...

I think all we can do is assume that this is rumor until something concrete happens. Still.. This is how it started with all of the transfers the past years as well. Just some whispers, and then the hammer drops.
A big if, but IF this is true.. then I am done with Lickliter. If he can't keep players in the program, his own recruits no less, then I don't see how this coach will ever succeed.
Again, that's all a big "if-then" speculation on my part, but I've said it before - the tranfers have got to stop starting as of last March.

If Lickliter can't keep May then Barta needs to pull the trigger without hesitation. It's unfortunate to be starting over, again, in three years. But some times you have to deal with what you're given.

First off, the whole damn team could transfer and you would still hear Barta announcing his allegiance to Lick and how the program is on the right track. So all this talk about transfers influencing Barta's decisions are pointless.
Second, I feel like I hear a new rumor every day in Iowa City of certain players who are considering leaving. When the program is at an all-time low, you really have to expect these kind of things. There really is going to be a lot of misinformation out there.
This rumor came from a guy who had a friend who heard it on the radio. I think that's all that needs to be said about that.
I think there will be turnover again within the program during the off season. Why this comes as a surprise to anyone is baffling. But right now people are just throwing names out there and hoping it sticks.
We will find out soon enough. Let's just leave it at that.

This may very well be nothing more than rumor with no truth at all. Guess we'll see, but this is how it always seems to start. There are whispers, and most people come out and say "No, it's BS, no chance that happens". Then boom, said player announces that he is going to transfer. We've seen it before, so I am not going to be so quick to dismiss it. That doesn't mean I BELIEVE it will happen. I'm just waiting to see what happens is all.

If someone had said it on the radio, you can bet there would be multiple threads and a huge outcry occuring on all three message boards. That's for sure. As far as I can tell, only one person has heard this radio rumor. I think it's safe to say this was not a reliable post.
I'm not saying that all rumors are false. I'm not saying that May won't possibly leave. I'm just saying that this rumor doesn't seem to be coming from solid sources. If someone can at least tell me what radio broadcast it was, well then I will retract my statement.

Ok, gotcha. I too am simply in wait-and-see mode. A month from now, I should think we'll know if anybody is leaving or not.
Personally, I'm just waiting for the next shoe to drop. It has happened with Lick every year, so why should this year be any different. Its not been a question of "if" players leave, but one of "who" is leaving. So far there is Tucker, better than even chance Brommer and then?
I heard from my uncle's girlfriends sister who heard it from some Kum & Go clerk who heard from a guy who was getting gas who heard it on the same radio show.

Oh, yes, mass player defection has become customary for Lick. Someone must not have informed our well-qualified AD Barta of that. His comments from the P. Harty article:
“Whatever coach said the good thing about freshmen is they’re going to become sophomores…the good thing about sophomores is they’re going to become juniors and the good thing about our freshmen is they’re going to become sophomores and combine that with others are saying is a tremendous recruiting class."
Although, if you read between the lines, he doesn't say our sophomores become juniors....
