Masters ratings down 22% without Tiger

I didn't get too far into that thread, but I will say I found the avatar in that forum far more funny than the tiger and girl pics. I guarantee there is am astounding lack of weiner with all those guys.

Maybe people just realized that watching golf is more boring than watching the hair on your balls grow.

You sound fat

Golf doesn't need Tiger. He is a bad role model and a complete sleazy bum. Good riddance

For right now, in order to maintain the level of popularity the game has now, yes it does. It will take a step back whenever he leaves the game, and then it will eventually come back.

you are very wise, Young Man

Tiger came on the scene at the very end of Jack's career. The networks and the PGA promoted Tiger to get more minorities interrest in the game. Several years ago a piece was done on his effect on those minorities and while he did influence some, it wasn't to the extent some imagined it would be. I watch golf occasionally to see good matches, not to see Tiger.

There will be someone else...there is ALWAYS someone else. Tiger had his run, and now it is over. He will never be what he once was. Hopefully he understands that doesn't matter. Probably not.

As for the golf...I thought the tourney would be good with tiger involved in the mix. As it was, there was some dang good golf being played in the afternoon on both sat and sunday. We had a housefull on Easter, and almost everyone was glued to the golf the last hour. Phil made it interesting all day, and bubba and OO played exceptionally.

I like to see tiger do well, but the Masters is the Masters with or without him. It is the non-majors that need his presence on the weekend to thrive.

jack had been done for over a decade when Tiger came along. Saying Tiger came on the scene at the very end of Jacks career is like saying Fran came on the scene at the end of Mr. Davis.

How many Iowans tuned out when they discovered that Zach Johnson wasn't in the top 20?

This. Golf wasn't doing particularly well with Phil and Co. carrying the banner.
