Maryland's loss to the Gophers

I watched the second half. Minnesota is playing very well. Maryland losing the big center to injury really impacted their rotation and rebounding. Iowa has some advantages going into the game on Saturday with Maryland. Extra day of rest and knowing how close they were to beating Minnesota for confidence. Hoping for another upset of Maryland on Saturday.

It is wishful thinking believing Iowa can win on Saturday. I'll consider keeping the margin under 10 points to be good for Iowa.

I got no problem with some "wishful thinking." But you're right, a win is unlikely. Possible but unlikely.

Was actually hoping Maryland would roll Minnesota. Now, they'll be unhappy and focused to beat us Saturday. Seems like we've hit that scenario a few times already this year.

Same thing when we had to play Michigan St. Mich St. got rolled the game prior to having to play us. I knew it wouldn't be good.

But they played like crap. We just played worse. Odds are just as likely a team gets down after a loss than it is they get up. I'm hoping they have hit the freshmen wall and tank down the stretch, starting last night.

I don't count the Michigan State game for much. Iowa just came off a double OT game at minnesota 3 days earlier. They probably got back to Iowa City at like 3am on Thursday, then had to fly to Michigan State on Friday or early Saturday on very short rest.

The illinois game is the one that will always piss me off about this season. no excuses for that dud

Agree. Yes, hate losing to Illinois.

Iowa has had their share of OT games this season with a couple being double OT.

How different does this season look if they get both those OT games at Nebby and at Minnesota? Suddenly Iowa is 9-6 and in 4th place in the Big Ten fighting for a double bye.

Crazy to think how bad that missed out-of-bounds call against the gophers may have derailed our season and boosted the gophers season.

I was thinking the same thing...damn Goofballs beating MD probably not good for the Hawks cause what are the chances MD looks like crap two games in a row?

And to think we had MN all but beat. A couple changes here and there and we are sitting in MN's shoes and they in ours.

Oh, and sign me up for playing MN or IL in the BTT. Despise both.

Yea if that game ends with a win in regulation, who knows what happens in the MSU and Illinois game. We were really close to having a pretty darn good year.

4 games. OSU, nebby 1st game, minny, Illinois 2nd game. Winning even 2 of those puts us in the bubble. 3 puts us likely in, 4 makes it all but a lock if we can sneak 1 more win this year. So close.

A fun, but frustrating year. Hopefully more fun and less frustration next couple. Need development from a few guys.

They have lost 2 in a row and better yet Iowa avoids Senior night.

It's crazy how close we were but at the same time so far away. Turn around those 3 Big 10 games, which could have easily happened, and we would be looking to match the last 2 year's conference records.

Assume you meant UNO, but yes, Nebraska game they had won, and couldn't close. Minnesota was stolen from them. Illinois they just played poorly, but still had a chance to tie/win in the last minute. 18-10/10-5 would have been pretty sweet for this team.

I was at the Maryland game at Carver. Hawks started very slow and got down early. Fought all the way back to have a chance to win the game with 2 minutes left. Wagner had a great game, we outrebounded them but allowed too many 3 pointers. If we want to have any chance to win, we cannot come out so flat and get down right away. Especially on the road. This is not an impossible game to win.

In true Iowa fashion, the hawks will win the next 3 only to lose the first round of the tournament
