Several outlets are reporting that Maryland and Rutgers are in "advanced" talks to join the Big Ten. Pat Forde is reporting that an announcement could come as early as this week.

Also, Maryland's president is a former provost at Iowa, so that's a pretty significant tie-in there.

This came out of left field but if it goes down, I'd be shocked if this didn't happen. Now that PSU has been crushed by penalties, I think Michigan could move to the other side as well.
