Marvin McNutt Released

McNutt just takes way too long to get up to full-speed, not good enough accelaration. And that's not going to cut it when he gets pushed off the line easily by physical corners, which are pretty much everywhere. It really sucks, especially since I'm an Eagles fan, but there are just much better receivers on the roster.

Per CBS Sports they did

Giants | Rapid Reports
Biggest name: DL Marcus Thomas, who joked earlier in the week that the Madden folks would change his profile photo if he made the team. Whoops. Other names: RB D.J. Ware, S Tyler Sash, DE Matt Broha, WR Isaiah Stanback, TE Larry Donnell, LB Jake Muasau, T Matt McCants, DE Craig Marshall, WR David Douglas, LB Greg Jones, WR Dan DePalma. Well CBS Sports is wrong.

It's a big step up going from being all big ten to making an NFL roster as a receiver. I think there was a little foreshadowing, when against top level competition...Oklahoma, MSU, Nebraska, he wasn't getting open as often...and he struggled against top corners.

That being said...I think he can be a possession type guy for the right team...plus he can block.

There seems to be conflicting Sash reports.

Safety Tyler Sash has been placed on the reserve/suspended list.
Giants early cuts include linebacker Greg Jones, running back Danny Ware | ProFootballTalk

Tyler Sash was placed on the reserve/suspended list and Bruce Johnson was placed on injured reserve.
NFL Roster Cuts: New York Giants cut Greg Jones and D.J. Ware : New York Giants

Yep, CBS Sports and Chicago Tribune both reported he had been cut. Good to hear he has not.

I don't see him being a possession guy. When I think of possession guys I think of smaller quick guys who can accelerate and/or cut quickly or find openings fast to get open. I think this is where McNutt has issues at this level.

If his agent doesn't at least call Miami he needs to get a new one. I thought going threw camp he had a shot but as the preseason games went on I sure didn't see much of him.

I think the point of calling someone a possession receiver is that once they have the ball they're fine, but it's hard for them to create separation. The short quick guys you describe don't usually have that problem, they just often times get used for their YAC, so I understand the logic. Those guys are usually excellent PR/KR players that they want to get the ball to, not WR's by trade. Sanu is also considered a possession receiver, he's similar to McNutt.

he wasnt a good fit for the eagles. he fits better with teams that utilize bigger receivers or their offense fits bigger receivers better (ie giants, jets, 49ers)
