Any fatalities? I live in E. Iowa and was worried about these systems coming here, but we lucked out because they fizzled out.

Dark green skies about 5:30 or so south of Dubuque on the way to Davenport for some eighth grade hoops. Very low ragged clouds but fortunately no rotation or tornadic activity.

Still remember the Iowa City tornado from around 2006 or so. A few blocks further north and that's right through the middle of the campus. Still heavily damaged some sorority houses east of downtown.

I remember that Iowa City tornado in April 2006 very well.

I was working at AutoZone and it hit just before we closed. Luckily, there were no customers in the store. My co-worker and I headed out to the parking lot to see what was going on. I remember looking up into the sky, and seeing the thin tornado clear as day from the south every time lightning flashed. We headed back into the store, and waited for things to settle down. On my fast drive home (I topped out my car on 218 northbound that night) I saw a semi tractor and trailer on its side in the median of Highway 1 near the old Hargrave-McEleney GM dealership.

Scary day up there... Pretty amazing that I haven't heard of any fatalities as many of them as their were and where all they hit. Mother nature is undefeated... You can dodge her but you aren't beating her.

First 4 headlines on the Marshalltown newspaper website this morning. No joke:

Holy shit! I couldn't believe it until I saw it myself. I managed to get a perfect screenshot.

99topdawg, are you from the Mtown area?

I used to work a cross the street from the courthouse and couldn't believe the video of the top coming off.

Sort of in the vicinity I guess, but not really close. Am more familiar with the area from going there to the orthodontist, going to relatives, etc. when I was growing up.

Yes, apparently the atmosphere around the IC-CR corridor was pretty stable and they kind of fizzled out quickly as approached the east. Weird day. I haven't heard of any fatalities or serious injury which always amazes me when seeing destruction as this.

At one time yesterday I heard on the radio there were reports of missing cars. MISSING CARS!!

Next man in Marshalltown, Bondurant and Pella. Stay Strong!
