Marquette vs. WVU, Buzz Dances

Wow...just happened to have this on, wasn't really watching it. Marquette hangs on to win by one, and the coach decides to start dancing across the court as they play "Country Road" and the WVU student section about took him to one 25 miles out. He said he wasn't trying to be disrespectful, which is probably true, but quite a lapse in judgement if you ask me.

Very dangerous thing to do...most of the students were missing their teeth and dey don't take kindly of people making fun of dem...

I didn't see anything offensive at all. Now if he was out there doing a ho-down and acting like a wvu fan then I could see an issue with that. guy was just two stepping to john Denver. its not like he was walking around pretending to be an airplane and then mock crashing into a mountain. that would be offensive. plus he sounded like a pretty legitimate dude in the interview. I think the wvu fans were overreacting just a tad.

I think you have to put it in context. His team had just won a tough, hard-fought, physical contest after trailing most of the game. The WVu fans were still pretty fired up from some questionable calls at the end and the outcome. So he does his little two-step across the floor towards the broadcast table right in front of a bunch of angry young fans? He knew what he was doing. Not smart.

Not sure you would have seen a B1G coach do that, save for Crean. Not even Fran.

I was also watching it live and thought it was spontaneous and totally awesome. The students behind the broadcast area were going nuts. It is totally a WVU thing to do.

Had it been a player, how would people feel? He set an example to his players by benching several of them for part of the game for "violating team rules" and said in the post game interview he needs to teach them to be quality young men. This was bad judgement and not a great example to his team, IMO. I do believe him when he says he was just caught up in the excitement and did not necessarily mean any harm...he just didn't think about what he was doing.

How would we be reacting if Fitz decided to dance all over midfield after beating us? It's one of those things where it's maybe ok if it's on your home field/court, but not on the visitor's. Who was it that danced on the star at midfield in Dallas? Was that TO, or was that too long ago for it to be him?

Just don't do that...and, yes, Buzz is lucky for getting out of there unscathed. I wonder what the escort out was like?

I saw it. I thought he was just doing his native Texas-two step for Rafferty's benefit.
Then I saw how WV fans were still massing behind the scorers table, and thought it was unwise. But, on the surface, I thought it was a bit of harmless fun.

I like Buzz, from all I have seen and heard. It is the last time that Marquette will ever play WV as conference-mates,so maybe he was careless. Those fans behind the table were looking to make an ugly scene, until security ,then police arrived. Why are they hanging around anyway?

Jeez, I feel like I just stepped into the movie footloose. The man was feeling foot loose and fancy free after a victory. so he gracefully two stepped (I'll take his word for it) across the floor to the announcers table. this appeared to be well after the final buzzer and most of the fans minus those students had already left. nothing to see here.

The guy did about 5 seconds of the two-step. The camera was in his face and he thought he'd show off a little. Not a big deal, but probably one of those things he wishes he hadn't done.
It'll be forgotten by tomorrow.
