Marcus Paige to UNC

Ryno, I've been over to Cyclonefanatic and I have to say, I don't see this "epic" meltdown either. Seems most of the poster's over on that board figured Paige would be going out of state.

The funniest thing is the epic meltdown occurring on CF.com right now though. They were sure that he was a "lock" for Iowa State because of their golden boy's NBA connections on his golden Rolodex. Hoiberg isn't a God after all.

You don't need to get nasty...and you don't need to make a mountain out of a molehill. That thread is far from epic.

Sorry CyChamp. Just get easily annoyed with the Cyclone fans obsession with Fred. A little over the top and IMO, many may be expecting too much from him so soon. Going to be backlash if he doesn't reach those goals and he's a good guy. Need to temper expectations a little. Clones are struggling a little with a mediocre Nebraska team. I think the 13-2 record is more of who you've played and not who the coach is or how good the team is yet.

No offense, but I think you're overgeneralizing the fanbase.

And, Nebraska has a better KenPom ranking (38) then both ISU (46) and Iowa (62), and the game is in Lincoln. They aren't as mediocre as you might think. I had this game down as a loss, and it appears it will be. I've said all along that ISU will struggle in conference play.

You might need to take your criticisms directly to Cyclone Fanatic, because no one here seems to think the way you are telling us we think.
 
The day that Roy Williams either hangs it up, or curls up and dies, will be the best day for Iowa/ISU recruiting in a LONG time. Good God.

And you are going to fault him for that. UNC will make the tourney the ACC is poor this year overall. Williams is a great coach he has just been fortunate to be in the places he has, but that is not something to fault him for. No matter where you coach winning a title, let alone two says something about the job he does. If it isn't a big deal why is it so difficult to do?
 
I'm hopeful that with the new coach/system more great in state kids will be becoming Hawkeyes. If Iowa has to fight with ISU for recruits then the Iowa program will be suffering.
 
As long as Roy is doing what he was doing at Kansas (cheating) then we won't ever get the recruits against him....lol
 
I also would like to thank young Mr. Paige in making his decision early. Fran and staff can invest their time/thoughts on those who will be Hawks. Would love to face these guys in a holiday/NIT/NCAA tourney in a few years and beat them. Go Hawks!
 
Iowa unfortunately didn't have a chance, would've been a great get but this kid had his sights set for bigger and better things. It is definitely a major benefit that he has already committed, now there is much more time for the coaching staff to recruit players that are much more likely to help out the program. That being said, Fran is smart and I'm sure he saw this coming from a mile away. I think that with the teams continued improvement, Fran has put this staff in a great position to sell what Iowa has to offer to these recruits, and as a result we are going to start seeing recruiting pick up.
