Marble had a great game, but Gesell was the MVP

Mike had 8 assists, 1 turnover. Played hard, played smart, team leader today with his setting up the half court offense and pushing the ball off turnovers. Three steals, batted balls all over the place, hit both his 3-pointers, hit both his FTs, and had 4 rebounds.

Great game Mike!

Mike's getting to the point where I think he's underrated. He plays so under control and his defense is pretty underrated. My only complaint is that he gets blocked at the rim often but that's a product of getting there in the first place which is great to have from a point guard. He's going to be a great college player when he's done.

Agreed. I forget he is coming off of an injury this season. Solid season and great game!

Agreed. He was already leading the B1G in assist to turnover ratio and that 8 to 1 today was huge. He's got much more bounce this year … that injury held him back last year. He might be the best point guard in the B1G next year with Appling and Craft graduating. Just needs to work on his shot a bit (needs more arch).

I'm on the wagon for Gesell and Woodbury. This squad is in good hands.

Marble set the tone, though, and willed us to a new level in the first half.

Dev was the MVP by a larger margin than any Iowa player has been this year.

And should be more often seem to be Fran's desire was to get Dev off and running and MG help make that happen.

One could, quite rightly, split the Player of the Game Trophy.....

Needed the improvement and game from both to win. It was 100% a total team effort with attitude.....

The whole team deserved MVP AWARD! I think Gabe deserved because he plays hard and always moving his feet and raising his arms. He makes his minutes counted.

+1 atomicblue. The whole team deserved the MVP. No standing around in this one. Team offense. Moving the ball around for the open looks. Did you notice how many of Marble's baskets in the 1st were wide open looks? That's how Iowa needs to play offense in the half court
..

I really think Olesani is playing as well as anyone. His timing and help defense has gotten so much better. He actually anticipated where to be on a few of those blocks and got there quickly and with explosion. He was patrolling the lane and was intimidating to the smaller wolverines...he's just made so much progress. Great to watch a guy come from where he was a few years ago, to where he is today. Hell, I'd rather have him handling the ball at the end of games, he has probably been the best free throw shooter on the team...most consistent anyway...just kidding about the ball handling thing though.
