I'll also somewhat contradict my point in that I think the difference between an Iowa and Georgia or whoever isn't so much the intelligence of the players or the level of coaching talent, it's having such insanely deep rosters of elite athletes that a school like that can make up for those small mistakes. A Georgia would be able to overcome that idiotic roughing the passer because they usually have a 20 point lead at that point and their defense wouldn't normally let a WR slip like that to score as the clock expires.
A team like Iowa doesn't have that luxury and has to operate on razor thin margins. They have to be more perfect with execution and details.
Unfortunately sometimes those little mistakes show up against an Indiana or Illinois or Minnesota instead of Ohio State, and then you get mouth breathing idiots online who say the coach needs to get fired and the team sucks.
