I see he is playing for Martin Brothers in AAU, what is the book on this kid?
If Iowa weren't to get Woodbury would he be a nice consolation?

He just moved to Omaha a year ago or so and I guess he is a MAJOR project. You cannot teach height and he is around 7'0 foot tall but also very raw. I guess he needs to add a ton of weight and it will be interesting to see how his game develops in the next year or so. He plays at a Class B school in Nebraska so this summer will be helpful against a much higher level of talent. The reports I have heard from people in the area say he is far from contributing at a high level due to his inexperience.

I have heard he has West Va,among others who recruiting him....I hope Iowa gets on him. Twin towers anyone?

We have enough instate players (and S. SC's Gesell) in 2012 to turn the ship around.
Paige
Woodbury
Gessel
Staten

Not to mention Jok in 2013

You know, he might really be THE guy Iowa can't miss on in the next few years. Paige is an exciting player, but he is pretty small. Most likely won't be necessarily a complete game changer, but rather a very good point at the next level.

Jok might be the game changer.

Peter Jok is very highly regarded in the 2013 class. Supposedly his guardian is an avid Iowa fanatic. He is projected to be a seven footer in his senior year. Woodbury and Jok and Thok. Triple towers and maybe the first seven foot frontline. Here is what ESPN college basketball recruiting says about Jok.

Peter Jok 2013 Basketball Recruiting Profile - ESPN

So Peter is Listed at 6-5 as a Sophmore, his brother Dau (Commited to Penn) is listed at 6-3. Although it would be nice, i don't see Peter growing 7 inches.

Neither do I, still doesnt deter me from wanting the Hawks to recruit the hell out of the kid.

The only problem I would have IF Iowa landed the Paige, Gessell, Staten, and Woodbury is three are 6'2" and under. Id much rather have Paige, Gessell, Woodbury, and Thok. Not a knock on Staten but I just think Iowa needs more depth in the paint and 2 post, 2 frontcourt would be good balance IMO. If Iowa can take/get all 5 more power to them.

So Sioux City East is going to have two seven foot guys on their high school team? Should we just hand them the trophy now?

I'm as optimistic as anyone about Fran and the future of Iowa basketball, but in reality we'll be lucky to snag two of those guys.

Anyone know how Mading's progress is coming along, how his aau summer went, or if Iowa will extend an offer?

Seems it would help with the recruitment of Woodbury, not to mention having two 7 footers.

Id guess with Meyer on board we wouldn't offer if our goal is Woodbury.
