Lowery update

It was, however, the first person Carl hit all day. That being said, the DL got stronger as the game wore on...but we just don't play low in the trenches at the tackle position. I did like what I saw with Cooper...I noticed he was taking on a few doubles too.

Will we ever have a DE with speed on the edge? Gags and Alvis played ok, but they are definitely not burners coming off the edge.

D played well. Gave up one long drive in the first half and Morris was pancaked combined with a Miller whiff-tackle on one big play in the second. Other than those two drives, they were actually pretty great.

(Granted NIU absolutely could not throw the ball, so that may leave a concern for next week.)

yeah - morris got sucked inside? how - do you do that? he drove right into the blocker? really?

He did that 4-5 times today...I have no idea what he was seeing. On Lynch's run he stepped into the blocker to take him on, when Lynch was already outside of him. Why? He had terrible angles to the ball. He missed Lynch on those QB draws several times. He may need glasses.

I thought the D played better with Carl in the game. His size was more difficult to push around. Coop was getting pushed all over the field.

Other times his tackling looked like hugging. Do you think Alabama linebackers would allow a QB to fall forward every time he runs. I miss the days when we hit someone....d played much better as far as playing with energy and hitting in the 2nd half, Morris included.

I hope it continues to build.

Morris is perhaps the most over-rated player on the team. He was responsible for as many bad plays today at JVB. And in some ways...his cost us more.

I said this to my brothers while watching the game today. Dom and Gags played ok, I just dont know why the Hawks cannot find that speed rusher off the edge. I will say that Bigach does not need to be playing on the outside, he really struggles to hold contain and does not keep his outside arm free. It is a recipe for disaster against mobile QBs.
