I saw a retweet from KJ Pilcher last night wher Logan Thomsen said that he is going to be a Hawkeye. Don't know much about the kid other than he won the 2A Title at 152# this past season.

Yeah I saw that last night, the dude is tough. He placed 2nd, 3rd, 2nd & 1st (Fresh-Senior). He's projected to wrestle 157. Not sure how he pans out as far as making the lineup but I DO know that he's a hard worker. He and his younger brother, Max, both won state this year. Max is a sophmore 2x state champ and almost has 100 wins already. It'd be huge to get BOTH of these guys in the room.

Hard work beats talent all the time in college. Don't have to be a wrestler with all the awards and national attention to be an all-american. Thanks the heads up SP I didn't see his tweet

True. I would also say that we're seeing a lot of the talent work harder, than maybe ever. Of course there's exceptions (and for some reason the Hawks seem to get a lot of the exceptions, i.e. Nate Moore, Baldasaro, Dzweiza, Skon etc), but the truely talented are some of the hardest workers. Metcalf, Taylor, Steiber, Ramos, Dake are just a small portion.

i agree. i think we're seeing hard work beat talent much less than we did years ago. College teams have raised their training level across the board in my opinion. Which has hurt Iowa.

Exactly, which is why we can't keep losing to our rivals for truly elite talent.

What exactly are you trying to say here in relation to scholarships?
I agree with what you said. There are many Iowa trained coaches around the nation now. So it is fair to say many of the top schools now are well coached and and well conditioned. And with only 9.9 schollys to give talent sure spreads out. Its great for keeping the sport competitive. I have heard and read many comments on how Iowa is in decline mode now for 3 years. Nope. Other teams are just catching up to the big boys.
