Live Spring Game Updates

Mitchell is a super talented underclassmen who just outperformed all upperclassmen RBs. Expect him to see a couple garbage carries early in the season, then be benched during the Big 10 because he missed a block and remain on the bench until bowl prep. Then expect to hear transfer whispers. You heard it here first.

Oh, did i mention attendance? While other Big 10 schools are bringing in 70,000+ for spring games, we probably had around 700 people there. There were front row seats open. No one was there. No excitement. No gimmicks.
When you don't actually play a spring game and the direction of the program 700 is probably more than we should expect.

Based on today's scrimmage, I don't know why you wouldn't go with Wadley and Mitchell. Mitchell looked almost as quick and elusive as Wadley and is bigger and stronger.
Because Canzeri is the SR. As previously stated, "we've seen this rodeo before"

Brian Ferentz's first real test as "run game coordinator". Does he play the more talented underclassman or fall into line behind Careful and play the upperclassman?

In a board full of negative posts it's good to see one like this that's positive enough to think we will have bowl prep.

CJ gets the ball back and checks down to Mitchell. Was under pressure. Then short pass to Vandenberg who has good YAC. Then deep pass to Tevan Smith in the endzone...overthrown. Or Tevan slowed down. Thrown 50 yrds in the air. Followed up by nice pass to McCaron for a decent gain. End of 3rd quarter. STILL NO TDs. Very little offense.

Overthrow, ball hit on the OB line.

CJ goes deep again to Vandenberg and again Vandenberg can't get separation and cant come down with the pass. CJ sorely misses a real WR threat. The guys he is throwing to are not Big 10 WRs.

Well, I thought Vandenberg graduated in 2013. You know as in James Vandenberg... I guess a former quarterback would have issues getting separation when running pass routes.

Oh, wait you mean Vandeberg, as in Matt Vandeberg, right? The two names are not spelled the same. Seems your constant misspellings of certain names are spilling over to other names....

In defense of the fans, I wouldn't have gone to the game Saturday. I can think of lots of things to do rather than sit in the wind-blown rain. I was going to help a buddy build a deck but we couldn't do it on Saturday because of the rain.

Exactly. However, whether a player gets playing time or not is not based on the spring game; and it shouldn't be. It's based on that player's performace in all the practices. One practice (which is essentially what the spring game is) doesn't earn playing time. We on these forums all see the games, but none of us see the practices.
