lineup to finish the year

herbyhawk

Banned
Marble, Gatens, White, McCabe and Archie
Archie at least give it everything he has, as for offense he does not have the handles to provide much, but defensively he is very active on rebounds
lets face it may is struggling but he tries, Basabe i think it was a mistake for him to be invited to the U19 USA team and the 2nd team all BT preseason team went to his head. not to mention the things Fran said about him.
the kid is good but not good enough to just step on the court and have players step aside.
he also has got it into his head he can do no wrong to lose his starting spot.
hopefully bring both off the bench will wake them both up, May can relax and play within himself, and Basabe to wake up and realize he has to play and not just show up

It's not like we were up 12 points in the 1st half with 5 minutes to go and coming off a win over the #13 ranked team in the country or whatever Michigan was ranked.

Please... we lost on the road at one the toughest venues in the conference.

I get it that Mel and May had bad games but I get tired of the new starting line up thread after every game. In the overall picutre, we are 3-4 in the conference which is much better than most would have predicted and our tougest part of the schedule behind us.

I am more interested in finding the right match ups based on who the team is playing. Starting is not my main concern as Fran seems pretty quick to switch players in and out of the line up.

If you have a quick offensive minded 3 then I don't think you want White matched up against that guy. He just does not have very good lateral quickness. I think May matches up better against that type of player. I know White will offer more offensively but you might want May in there for his defense.

It's so hard to to deal with starting line ups especiall with coaches who pull guys very quickly. Heck Fran might pull a guy 1 minute into the game so does it matter who is starting?

i am looking at energy that player bring to the table at the beginning of the game these 5 do it, Basabe just doesn't do that, Basabe needs to get his head out of his butt, and May needs to relax, these are my observations, the 5 that gives Iowa the best chance to win will be on the Floor, Fran will see to that
and i highly doubt Fran is reading these board for tips on who to start and who to bring off the bench.
i gave my reason for seeing this lineup, rather than moaning about the post, either read it and move on or give your opinion on who to put on the floor and give your reason why

Basabe just doesn't do that, Basabe needs to get his head out of his butt

Or... Basabe just needs his groin injury to heal. Maybe you missed that Fran said he's trying to play hurt with a groin injury. Ever had a groin injury? No?... Well, they suck!

Ease up on Herby,guys...he said in the preseason that Gabe was going to average a double-double this season,so he might have more insight than most fans.

Maybe we should let Melsahn's groin heal before we bench him,ok?
White is already struggling to handle the minutes he is getting due to stamina issues.
I will let Fran make the lineups as he does see the practices every day,and study the film....I trust Fran.

Archie is filling his role on the team as an energy guy in short bursts to rest others. With Archie we are playing 5 on 4 offensively, as he is no threat whatsoever unless there is a breakdown and he gets loose for a dunk.

Basabe is having a tough year and needs to play through it. Basabe has two years left, Archie is a senior.

Cartwright, Gatens, Marble, White, McCabe

Zach has shown he can hold his own at the 5 spot for a long while now.

i had no knowledge of the injury to Basabe, as this was just announced
, and with him being hurt this just backs up my thought of not starting him. in the end he is to valuable to risk a more serious injury by starting him
as for Olaseni i also said he would get "8-10" ppg and "8-10" rb "IF" he started, i have never said he would avg a dbl dbl, i also said "IF" Brommer and Archie improved in the off season he might be RS, i would love for someone to come up with post where i said he would avg a dbl dbl

Not on defense he hasn't.

Who has? The inside defense has been pretty weak.

And I don't want anything to do with a guy who has barely played starting and playing high minutes (I assume that's what the OP would want). Especially when he isn't that good.

Agreed. The OP is a moron, you know that..

In the Big 10 season, Archie has played 32 minutes, and has 2 points and 8 rebounds.

Sounds like starter material to me.

When was the last time May had a good game ?

Have to agree with the fact May does not belong in the rotation unless Gatens is strugling on O. I go with Cartright, Marble, Gatens, White, McCabe. Basabe, has not shown a whole lot. I like McCabe's toughnes, the fact he can put in on the floor, and hit down an outside shot. Rebounding would be an issue with this line-up, but it already is, so at least this group should be able to score. Off the bench, Archie/Brommer for White, Basabe for McCabe, (never at the same time) May for Gatens or Marble if he is out. I just see that these are the 5 best guys that can make plays when they need them. I kinda thought Gatens needed to take over at the end of the game, be a leader and get to the line. This team looks to him when times get tough and he kinda disappeared.
