You really think it is John Lickliters drive and work ethic is what landed him on the Iowa team??? LOL - you are the one of simple mind. John Lickliter makes no D1 team unless it is for his dad. If my memory serves me right Jim Bartles was about 6'-5" not 5'-6", height can make up for a lot of the lack of athleticism.

Your an idiot. John's drive and work ethic is what seperates him from you. Since you were just as good as John he made it, you didn't. Just cause someone is 5'6" or 6'5" it don't matter, John is filling a need that the team needs because of a suspension to another player. I don't know what Todd or John Lickliter have done to you but you sure hold something against them. John has had rough moments just like any other Hawkeye palyer and has some good moments to. If he was on the floor looking like a fool like you would be made to look like then I would understand the frustration of jerks like you. But John has done more good than bad, your a small person to be bashing a college kid just because hsi dad coaches a D1 program and HAS to play the kid.

There should be a rule. If you're not better than me, you can't play for the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team.
 
people seem to forget that lick was the point guard for a state championship team. was he the team's main asset? obviously not... i'm guessing you could have teamed gatens up with any four competent players and they would have been pretty damn good.

however, you can bet there were a lot of basketball players at city high that wanted to start for that team, and that many of them were taller, quicker, and could jump higher than lick. last i checked, city high puts out some pretty good athletes (aj derby also started for that team). none of them were able to beat out lick, though, and he played a ton of minutes for a 4A state title team. he also scored 11 in the championship game, getting to the free throw line eight times (which you have to admit is surprising/amazing). it doesn't matter how tall you are or if you have a baby face. you can't fake it on the basketball court and i think a lot of people on this board who think they would be able to replicate lick's performance b/c they dominate in the fieldhouse are deluding themselves.

if his last name was anything else do you think he would have an invite as a walkon?

he was the point guard and when they were pressed, someone else did the ballhandling.

I dont want to slam the kid..his Dads inability to keep his team together has resulted in Lil Lick having to play.
