Lick's most damaging transfer

It may very well be Jake Kelly but for the life of me, Jeff Peterson's departure is the one that will always haunt me.

But then again, Lil Lick may have never seen the court had he stayed....

Mac is getting KILLED by the transfers. I'm still amazed he has a job, but then again looks who's in charge.

I talk to a former player quite a bit ( I won't say the name ) but Jake Kelly didn't exactly leave, just because of his mother. Coach Lickliter had a big role in why he left.

And stormin, I agree ISU is getting nailed hard. And losing Brackins to the Pro's is such a blow as well

To me it was never a question. If his purpose for leaving was strictly his mother, why would he have denied it so adamantly just a few weeks before leaving? I have no issue whatsoever with Jake leaving, especially because of the situation with his mom. But to think that was the determining factor in his decision is a tad naive in my personal opinion.

I say the Kelly/Peterson transfer was the death blow when they do the autopsy.
With them, Iowa probably wins at least 4-5 more games,and lick gets one more year to prove his rebuilding is on track.
I think Lick has to look himself in the mirror and be honest,he screwed himself by not getting his players invested more.

To me it seems like Coach Lick is just a on court guy. Does anyone know how he was off the court with his players? Did they go to his house for hangouts or anything like that? Just seems like tons of communication was lost and not there. And the Kelley Peterson transfer I agree were huge death blows.

IMO the Freeman transfer was the most damaging. It was the start of things to come. Which we didn't know at the time.

To be fair, even if every transfer were ALL because of Lick, you wouldn't do that. I'm sure they've all been 'coached' on what to say and what excuses to give to the media if asked.

I diagree to an extent. One of the main criticisms coming out is that Lickliter isn't very close with the players off the court. I think it's certainly possible (assuming that the criticism is correct) that Kelly really was struggling with the situation regarding his mom, and needed someone to help him, and Lickliter didn't fill that need. So I think it's possible (and in this case likely) that the "mother reason" was not just an excuse. It was 100% legit, and he wasn't getting the kind of support he needed from Lickliter. That's JMO.
