Let's give him the respect

I heard one of the announcers last night the Marble want's to be called Devyn. Reason is that while he respects his dad he want's to make his own name with Iowa Basketball.

I get that he does not want to be Roy's kid. So when posting about him I think we should give him the respect and post about Devyn.

Speaking of which I think he is doing a great job running the point. For being thrown in there and not having a lot of experience at it.

Keep playing hard Devyn and you to can become a hawkeye legend!
 
I'll be glad when he doesn't have to run the point anymore ... Scottie Pippen he is not

That's why everyone has called him Devyn since he stepped on campus. Article, interviews, etc... all refer to him as Devyn or Dev. I don't remember hearing him being called Roy Marble Jr at all since he's been at Iowa.

With some work he could very easily be a Pippen type player. If he works on his ball handling, keeps up the effort on defense and keeps scoring he will easily be a very well rounded player.
 
The graphic on the BTN during the game labeled him Roy Devyn Marble. That is his official name on the Iowa roster.
 
I would like to see a little less of Roy in the stands. It seemed like we could not see Devyn on the floor without a 10 second close up of Roy in the stands. We know the connection, we don't need it pointed out quite as much as the BTN would seem to think.

Agreed, but let the records show that no one on HawkeyeNation believes this stand should be taken against James Vandenberg's mom over the next two football seasons...Thank you.
 
If we merely call him Marble, is it universally known that we are referring to Devyn and not Roy Sr? I just want to make sure we are clear. I would like to call him Marble because I do not know him personally and I think it is rude to call somebody by their first name if you do not know them personally!

Or Devyn Marble. Depends on the context. If you're talking to a person not familiar with our roster, refer to him as Devyn Marble on first reference. Otherwise, Marble is fine :)
