We should expect to see an improved offense in Lester's second year of running it. Everyone will better understand and be ready to execute what he's trying to do.
An improved offense may be our best hope for a good season next year. No KJ? No Higgins? Ykies, scary already. But, let's worry about the bowl game right now. What QBs will be in the portal? Can we get one? How much can we pay them?
There will be some good competition in the QB room next, that's my prediction.

We have worried about replacing defenders so many times. Because there's been sooo many good ones.
And I can't think of too many eras we've been let down.
We used to not worry about replacing offensive lineman for the same reason. Until Brain took over coaching the line, and later the offense. I am hoping we turn a corner on this.
A decent runningback under a decent Ferentz team usually becomes a very good running back.
A very very good running back under a poorly Ferentz team is often still a very very good running back.
Haven't even considered worrying about special teams in decades. It's never been bad. And going on a few years now, they just keep reloading and finding new ways to impress. (Which, says a lot, to me, about the special teams coach).
We've had some bad to below average quarterbacks in the past. Just never this kind of a stretch without even an average QB.
I like what @Will C suggested in the Portal thread...take some lower tier guy who has thrown a ton of passes against college defenses and been very productive. I want a guy who has the proverbial 10,000 hours throwing the pigskin under his belt, and who can move. I don't really care if he has a cannon arm, a 4* ranking out of HS, or ideal stature.

That's what Minnesota did with Max Brosmer. DII QB with four productive years. He was seasoned and ready. Had a pretty solid year this year.
Is the Tulane kid Mensah actually gonna transfer though I haven't seen anything on him doing so. Funny enough his backup Ty Thompson is who we tried to get a visit from before he chose to go there thinking he'd play right away.. I was kinda bummed we didn't get that visit from Thompson he's a 6'4 215 lb mobile qb that Oregon wanted bad coming out of HS Figured he had potential. But that's our luck of course

Stick with Brendan and recruit a nice QB to fit the system and let Lester groom him. Forget getting these retreads from the portal. I mean this Moss sounds like he is pretty immobile and he got moved to the back-up role. Sound familiar? I mean I'd take a chance on him but not for $$$$$ gazillion dollars.

That kid from Liberty intrigues me for some reason. They have turned into a legit program but not a big name program. Maybe and Iowa could entice him away to play in the BIG.
