I'm sure the staff would agree with tightening up the rotation more. It's just too bad that the bigs haven't really had anyone separate themselves consistently enough to make it an easy decision. Between Cook, Pemsl, Wagner, Uhl, and Kriener they are all just so inconsistent that game to game nobody knows who'll be the most effective.

The guards it's easier and more cut and dry. It's JBo and Jok with Moss, Ellingson and Williams sprinkled in. Moss I hardly consider a starter. He don't play starter mins (which is part of the issue here)
Now the one guy I haven't touched on is Baer. He's the utility knife. He'll pretty much always play a lot and yet sporadically depending on how he's playing and flow of the game.

Not sure what the easy answer is. As soon as you say Cook and pick another big to start and play a lot of mins one of them will get in foul trouble early and the other one will be having an off day. Obviously Cook is who we'd like to see play more mins but he's not really earned them with his defense or rebounding. None of them have. So I almost think Fran should throw a dart at the board and pick one and just try. Uhl and Kriener can shoot outside 15 feet anyway. Pemsl and Wagner pass up 8 footers for crying out loud. So for floor spacing purposes maybe pick between those first two guys I mentioned to start with... This last game I thought showed some offensive issues not just defensive. We have to have guys that can put the ball in the hoop out there. I think Uhl and Kriener with more mins to get in the flow of the game can maybe do that.... Just a thought.

I think the guard rotations can and has been a challenge as well. Similar to the post play where guys can't really separate themselves, Moss, Ellingson and Williams have some spurts and games that they are very good but they also have games in which they are held scoreless and don't have much of an impact.

Yeah when Jok was out those few games it seemed to have played itself out alright. But yeah with him back it jams it up. Moss is who I feel bad for. He's the future. He should be looked at as our next Devin Marble type of player. I hope that's his future anyway he has the tools for it. Playing 4 or 5 mins to start each half and that's about it hardly allows him to get in a flow of the game.

Moss will be a major player as a Hawkeye, but still seems to make some beginner type errors at bad times. We just need to be patient with him, as he needs to be patient with himself. He will, I would bet, be a big piece of Hawkeye basketball during his next 3 seasons.

This has been an ongoing philosophical discussion since nearing the end of the OOC games. Various posters on several message boards have weighed in on this subject for a couple of months now; the news may lie only in the changing of the names, not the need to shorten the rotation, as that is old news.......IMHO.

The names going, dropping, leaving, etc., I have no opinion, but there are two 4*s coming this way next year to compound the name game.

Wagner as athletic as he is just doesn't look like a basketball player to me. He looks like a football player playing basketball. He has zero touch as far as shooting goes. Won't even take a shot past 5 feet. He relies on athletic ability to do things but he doesn't have many basketball instincts. There was a play where he was on the opposite side of the rim of a MSU shot. He just stood there not boxing out Bridges who was behind him and watched as he went around him and got the offensive rebound. Made zero effort to A box him out or B go get the ball. I think he's a bit robotic and slow to react to plays as they are happening. A part of me thinks he should just go play football. It'd be a win win for the two programs not to mention himself. That'd help clear up one spot anyway..

Fran is being paid a ton of money to make these decisions. He needs to quit worrying about hurting the feelings of the players. Cook, Moss and Bohannon should be playing. I'll be happy to see Jok graduate. He doesn't play ANY defense. Wagner should be on the football team. I don't understand that one......

Iowa can play 9 or 10 with their pressing style. 11 doesn't make sense

Haha is this serious?

A lot of people are ready to move beyond Jok - I'm sorta in that camp too but I'll do my best to enjoy the little time we have left. He's one of the greatest shooters to ever play at Iowa and I love all the contributions he's made for the program but I think a lot of Hawkeye fans are ready for what's next and the future now that the writings on the wall for this season. Jok refuses to make an effort on D, he turns it over at an extremely high clip and he doesn't make the players around him better (though I was pretty stoked how he was able to pass it to the open man against MSU last weekend). It's not that crazy of a thought.

That's crazy! He's going to be first team all conference. He's the only good guard we have right now and is our leading rebounder

yeah, he's great. Best shooter I've ever seen at Iowa personally- that said, I think Iowa is better next season without him and that has nothing to do with him.

Losing your best player who is also by far the most efficient player on the team is not helping anything. We would be much better next year if he was on the team. If people are ready to move on from him they are probably joking when they say it

We'd be better if Marble was still on the team too ding dong, but ya know he's in his mid 20's now. Duh. It's not at all weird for Hawkeye fans to be ready for the next chapter and excited about the rest of the pieces. Iowa will be better next year than this year and like I just said, it has NOTHING to do with Peter Jok.

A poster just said "I'll be happy when Jok graduates". That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever read.

No, I think someone saying we'd be better with him next season considering he runs out of eligibility in a little over a month is dumber.

How could someone say they can't wait for Jok to graduate? If you think the team will be better you say you can't wait for next year but to say you can't wait for a kid who is by far our best player to move on is dumber than anything I've ever said and I've said some dumb things on here.

When he actually does play defense, he is our best player. When he's playing matador defense, he's just a really good shooter.
