Learn the game...

Before thinking you know anything. I have read multiple people talking about the bubble screen and how well it looked with Powell. Let's start there it was a tunnel otherwise known as a jailbreak screen. A bubble goes toward the sideline and a tunnel goes in toward the linemen. Stick to what you know. Football is a very intricate game and the lack of knowledge by people is what has lead to bad habits from poor youth coaching.

this is a symptom of a bigger problem. People that think they know football or any sport but really don't are coaching their kids youth teams and teaching kids bad habits like poor tackling. Sports are more intricate than most realize. Really try to learn the game if you want to talk or critique it.

end soap box.

I also LOVE it (plz note SARCASM) when announcers refer to a runner "running downhill" when the field is clearly flat! *chortle**snort*

Actually the field is slightly bowed up in the middle. You should really quit talking football until you learn the game.
Also technically running downhill is when you're running toward the sidelines.

Or playing "lights out" when clearly the stadium lights are on and they don't even have helmet lights.

.... he ran like a scalded dog...

- a southerner's post referrig to Andy Brodell's long TD against Texas in the Alamo Bowl.

it's always amusing when people argue about subtle differences (trying to sound like an expert), and miss the big picture.

Unfortunately the OP lost all credibility when he/ she used the word lead instead of led. As many may know, the English language is an intricate language, and it is frustrating when those who think they understand it post such poorly edited drivel on an interweb message board.

AMEN! If anyone needs me, I'll be in my room with the lights off (can't take anymore).

This is why children can't spell correctly.

To try to act like it has any significance besides you trying to make yourself look smart though.... yeah you didn't fool any of us.

You can rest assured that my seven year old will not leave his room until he can explain the different screens plays that are a part of the complex offensive schemes available today.

"rolling ball of steak knives" when clearly that be extremely dangerous....like worse that spearing.

Heads up Football....lopped off.

How does someone calling a tunnel screen a bubble screen lead to bad habits in youth coaching? If they call it a bubble screen and run a tunnel screen who really cares as long as they're running the play the way it was designed. Sounds like you have your panties in a bunch over something pretty damn irrelevant. Then again, maybe I shouldn't citizen you over your soap box opinion.

Because when those players are finally coached by someone who knows what they're doing, they are gonna be pretty confused. Those things get fixed eventually, but it shouldn't ever be an issue in the first place.

And in any case, his main point was that there are a lot of people who don't understand even pretty basic terminology, yet they feel qualified to call every play call out as stupid.

Thanks-now I get it

The announcers on TV called it a bubble screen and that help lead to much of the confusion. I know a lot of them will just use the term screen as not to get it wrong.

Really? You think they would be "Pretty confused" because someone called a play a bubble screen instead of a tunnel screen? Only if you're a complete moron.

I was talking to our JV football coach today. He was telling me his RB has an IQ of about 76 and cant remember any of the plays. He asks questions in practice like "Do I run forward on this play?"
I asked "Why dont you just have the QB tell him where to run in the huddle?" He said "The QB isnt much smarter."
I dont think the intricacies of the names bubble screen and tunnel screen would matter much. And I doubt things they learned in youth football are remembered.
