Larson= Dodged Bullet

Difference is your messiah has offered 4 scholarships to them AND they have accepted. Hubbard has been offered NOT accepted scholarship. Hubbard is actually on a team and being recruited by other schools. Your group of misfits were booted from their team and not wanted elsewhere. But you'd believe Anthony Tucker is an automatic All-American under the messiah's coaching...oh wait.

Actually, I didn't see one poster on CF that wanted anything to do with Tucker. They know he's trouble, and nowhere near talented enough to afford taking that risk.

I suggest Depakote.

That has more to do with the fact that he played for Iowa than anything to do with his character. If Tucker was coming in from any other program, he would be another ultra-talented, misunderstood kid who has really turned his life around since getting kicked out his last school (insert number) months ago. I am curious to see how many of these reclamation projects ever see the court. I already know how many will see a classroom.

I honestly don't think we can play the "moral" card after we offered a guy who has been in the clink for 4 years. Hoiberg and Fran both realize that sometimes you have to take chances to rebuild a program. Nothing wrong with what either of them is doing in my opinion.

Why? How long does a guy have to wear his chains after he is released for serving his sentence?

What sentence are the guys paying for getting the boot? Off one team and on to the next?

I see no moral low ground for employing a guy who did his time, just the same as a player trying to get back to life after doing same.

They do have to sit out a year.

He said there's nothing wrong with giving Hubbard a chance, he's done his time. But he's right, we can't play the moral card against ISU when we're recruiting a guy with Hubbard's past. They're giving guys another chance just like we are trying to do with Hubbard.

I'm glad that the Hubbard recruitment has caused some to see the light on this issue. Especially when only two of the ISU transfers had anything to do with criminal charges, both of which are much, much more minor than Hubbard's.

And although we have a long way to go, there has been no indication that any of the transfers have had a whit of trouble in Ames. There's no denying that SO FAR the experiment is working.

How has the experiment worked so far? The transfers have yet to play a game, you had a terrible conference record, and you have lost 2 recruits that were going to be coming to Ames.

I didn't need to "see the light" on college recruitment any more than ISU fans came to "see the light" when their football players have run ins with the law. This moral higher ground crap that each fan base tries to take is just stupid.....

The experiment has worked in that the one transfer who did play (Jake Anderson) was outstanding, and none (zero) of the guys have had any trouble with the law or grades thus far.

Things are set up how they are supposed to be for next year...nothing has imploded yet. Until they do, so far, so good.

And, yes, the moral crap is stupid. Tell Ryno that.

I don't think McCaffrey lost 1 minute of sleep over not getting Larson and Brust.
He was a little upset about losing Brust, mainly because he invested so much time in it only to lose him to a Big Ten school. The opportunity cost of recruiting Brust by McCaffery was very high because there was lost time with other potential recruits.

How the hell does a post on Larson turn into an ISU-Iowa bitchfest? You guys need to take that junk to the rivalry board. Stay on topic, please. Enough with the smack talk w ISU.

I think you are dead wrong on this,Spank.
I do not even think that Fran minded that he ended up at Wisky, really.
I think Iowa did expect the Big Ten rule in place to be applied, but they did not really fight the appeal.
Lost time? Nah...the Brust decision came pretty quickly by Brust..Fran made like one visit to re-recruit him,out of courtesy and then moved on.
We needed a true pg,not Brust,and thankfully,we got Cartwright.
I do think that Larson was truly coveted by Fran, tho. He was the top-rated player in that class, and we needed size...but clearly,Fran did not have a long term relationship with him,so no way to really assess his character..so he went after him. Sounds like we got lucky.

I'm not. I Fran talked about this to the media earlier on last year. Also talked to him about it too. Fran was pretty ****** he wasted time trying to re-recruit Ben. A lot of time wasted.
