Losing Martin similar fallout to losing La Frentz?

Getting Martin a huge boost for the new OC.

Stakes are high, locally and nationally for the staff.

Comments?
 
Naw, not the same, Lafrenz loss determined Davis' future......this has little impact on Ferentz.

It wouldn't be as much of one that's for sure. It could impact what kind of ending KF has to his tenure but yeah it won't affect him getting fired or whatever nothing like that.
 
Watching Iowa's passing game in the season and bowl game...nonexistent...Martin coming to Iowa is bigger than big...IMHO...

Highest rated Iowa recruit and a WR...Iowa, most inept passing game in the country.

The Ferentz clan needs him, bad...
 
This is so crazy because when I was reading about Martin the first thing I thought about was Rafe Lafrentz.

Why? So he can sit on the bench for two seasons learning how to block and maybe run a few wind sprints on the field because he's too young to be the primary target (Iowa QB's only look at primary WR, then check down).

Hope I'm wrong with BF, but I don't see much of a change in our passing game besides less 3 yard outs

I thought that the decision had not been made on renewing his contract, when Lafrentz went to KS that sealed the deal and a new contract was not offered.......I may be wrong, my memory is also slipping.

Maybe, I am thinking of Collison.
 
Tough to lose skilled home grown Iowans...but, I guess you don't feel bad about not having something you never had.

Here is hoping for Martin...could make the Ferentz Clan look real smart in a year or two...assuming he is on the field and gets a ball thrown his way.
 
Martin's recruiting is crazy. If Iowa offered him a year ago today and he committed on the spot, the usual suspects on here would be crying about our 2* WR from Iowa and how KF is lazy and only recruits Iowa kids cause he is lazy.........

Crazy how much something can change in a year.

I think he was already gone from Kansas before Davis was done. I'm pretty sure his last year they were by far the best team and got upset by Arizona with Miles Simon. 96 or 97.
