Lady Hawks











Just read through whole thread to find out who won. I had to double check to make sure it wasn't the men's game the way we were giving up the lead. Are they going to make the tourney? I don't even know.

That isn't necessarily true. Iowa City is hosting two rounds, but I believe most of the 1 seeds will be hosting as well. If Iowa gets stuck in an 8/9 game, there's a good chance they won't be in Iowa City, IMO.

That said, they are definitely in at this point. A loss yesterday would have left them sweating a little, but their good wins will get them in. Now they're just playing for seeds.

I would be really surprised if Iowa did not get put in the bracket that has them playing in Iowa City, in womens basketball it is all about travel and putting butts in the seats. This will be a little make up for what they did to them last year where they got a good seed and then had to play on a lower seeds home court.

That was 2 years ago, actually. Played at Gonzaga (who was woefully underseeded) and got knocked off in the 6-11 game in Spokane. I think this Iowa team could make a similar run, though. I think they'll be underseeded for how good they really are (or at least can be), and if they get two games in Carver, that could propel them to the Sweet Sixteen, or even the Elite Eight (depending on matchups).

Actually, I believe the NCAA has a policy that if a host site makes the Dance, they play at home. So if Iowa makes it into the field, they will host the first 2 rounds and play at home. I MIGHT be wrong, but that's my understanding.
