Kirk's Presser Today

Besides paying for the monthly access on Hawkeyesports.com is there any other place to watch/listen to the presser on the web or maybe radio?

The Iowa AD realizes there is money to be made selling these press conferences and as a result they don't allow them to be broadcast live. Instead they broadcast them on their own pay sites as opposed to letting other outlets run them and sell ad time/sponsorships to generate revenue.

The live "chats" that Jon and others do get around that rule because the University views them differently (for now) than they do a re-broadcast. It's very similar to why Jon can do these chats (again for now) live from the press box during the game but he can't use a video camera or stream live audio or play by play.

Thanks for the info. I was unaware of that.

And it's only going to get better. Universities and athletic departments increasingly view what had been free as potential revenue streams. Eventually the schools will limit or ban free live chats.
