I'm thinkin this may be Stoops last season. Which would put Kirk in JoePa's seat starting next year. And by that I mean he would be the Dean of ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

Oliver Martin are you listening?????????

You may have misread me. Stoops just lost to Houston. If his team stumbles along the way, he may be shown the door.

well, it took a little longer than you expected for Stoops to leave, but your prediction, that 2016 would be Stoops last season, was correct.

A lot has happened since that post.

9/3/2016
Iowa has their returning all-B1G QB and Thorpe winner on defense
A friendly schedule
Iowa is ranked #17
Hawkeyes blow out Miami of Ohio and torch the Cyclones
We eventually move up to #13 in the rankings.

then . . .

Season face-plant
FCS loss
Bowl blowout
Lifetime contract
Texas recruiting fiasco
Barta revelations
Novice moved to OC despite two proven talents on staff
The usual flood of transfers including DMX (who we could use at WR)
400 of these posts: "another blow to our national title hopes" . . . mocking where we are and where we're headed

Yep, the "new blood" we need isn't at the OC position. It's at the top.

I don't agree with all of your takes, but nice call sir.

To KIrk's credit he will be in the hall of fame.
And he also is the Dean of College Football coaches which is a big deal in its own right. Other names that have enjoyed that title are Paterno; Beamer; Bear Bryant. All three either won a national title or played for one. Remaining undefeated against B&B will likely be Kirk's greatest achievement. If contract negotiation was a sport, he would have more Championships than Dan Gable.
