Is Kirk Ferentz's antiquated style of play actually going to be a benefit for Iowa in the college game for some time? Is he the proverbial recycled fad that is new to the moment after years of laying low under the radar?
College teams are now built to play the spread and zone read and defend the spread and zone read. They practice that and play most teams that run that. When a team goes up against Iowa, will it be so different they may not have the correct personnel to play Kirk's style or match up the best against them? Will how to play power run, zone blocking teams be so rare that teams will have to really change to scheme against them?
Could Iowa gain an advantage continuing to play this power run, play action pass style compared to most teams these days?
I heard fanny packs are back in style again but now called a belly bag. Did KF do this?
