Kirk Ferentz for B1G COTY

Tom Allen was fired today. His buyout is $20 million and would have been $8 million if they had waited one more year. That is a tough place to win.

I think Bert is safe.
That's a huge buyout. They had something going there with Terry Hoeppner (Ben Roethlisberger's coach at Miami Ohio before he accepted Indiana job) but cancer cut Terry's life short.

Now that Michigan is back under Harbaugh it is definitely tough at Indiana and Michigan State. Indiana beating Wisconsin a few weeks ago was just one of many examples of how the balance of power is extremely tilted to the east right now.

How much different would the record be? The record would either be 11 and 1 or 12 and 0. Most likely 11 and 1. Seems to me like it was an accurate statement.

To be fair, Lachey is in essentially a 5 way tie for 3rd in receiving yards.
The leading receiver hasn't played in over a month.

But yah. I don't disagree with ya one bit.

Record: 10-2
Points For: 216
Points Against: 146
Points/G: 18 (124th of 133)
Opp Pts/G: 12.2 (3rd of 133)

Just not buying it . He is responsible for having a horrible offense. Not recruiting / developing QB and offensive line depth. That's 6 positions out of 11 that showed up substandard.

He's very deserving due to all the injuries and distraction to navigate. What I think will happen if he miraculously beats Michigan in the C-ship game he gets it. If Iowa chits the bed with a bad loss prob goes to Purdue's coach.

Give it to KF and Braun

Although I don't usually like splitting awards, a strong case can be made for each. That seems like the right time to do it.

We all know this is an 11-1 team that should be ranked in the Top 10 if not for the inexplicable jobbing in the Minnesota game. KF has a strong case. That said, Iowa was predicted to win the West or at least get second, and so they largely did what they were supposed to do: win the Shitty west. Maybe Iowa slightly overachieved its record, but not much. Whereas there was 100% unanimity that NW would finish last in the West and likely not win a game. They finished second and won 7. Quite a showing.

So, if at the beginning of this season, you said: bet on either Iowa winning 10 games or NW winning 7, you would have laughed and taken Iowa to win 10. No brainer.

I think he deserves it considering the injuries to McNamara, Lachey, All, DeJean and Shannon not playing at all.

That is 5 of your very best players who missed all or a big chunk of the season.

That game could have shaken out very differently had All not fumbled, and had we not muffed their shanked punt. But that was all it took to tip it into a lopsided affair. It is a weird sport, sometimes a couple of plays turn a dogfight into a laugher.
Just like the B1G Championship 2 years ago. If we complete that halfback pass in the endzone, it's probably a close game. But our margin for error is extremely thin against the top 3 of the B1G East.
