Kinnick Experience...

I feel like it's maybe one of the worst in P5...

-Horrible bathroom experience. Whether you go at halftime, or in middle of game. Takes while to get from seat to nearest bathroom. Then HUGE lines that take forever. Always miss a couple series of football Despite $80 million renovation, that installed plush bathrooms with tvs and surround sound every 10 feet in press box. Unreal. This is unlike other stadiums. Feel free to debate.

-Parking and traffic. Seems worse then other venues. (college and pro)

-Product. IA football is the most BORING and UN-IMAGINATIVE football in college or pro. Slow, plodding, field-position type football. Always. Not even debatable here. Plus we generally have lack of dynamic athletes. To trump that, we play with least amt of emotion week-in, week-out.

-Price. Prices for our tickets are time and a half what other facilities charge, it seems.

That's just a start. On top, with most of us having 100 inch HD tvs with surround sound at home these days, why would ANYONE want to waste most of their day and money to deal with the above. At home...plenty of cold beer and food, bathroom breaks in which we don't even miss a play, instant replay on our tvs, which we can turn off any time or switch to another game when we get sick of what we see.

I went to every home game this year. The Purdue games was terrible. It got really cold at around 5pm, was frozen when I left with about 3 minutes in the game. Best part was just listening to Iowa fans near me bitching, swearing and yelling out loud.

I think it's funny that they are doing these renovations and trying to get people to donate $1,000 per seat plus pay the cost of the seat. No one is going to pay that money to watch this garbage. Obviously, some will, but they have no chance of selling out these seats like they no doubt thought they would. Maybe put a product on the field that doesn't suck balls.

Usually hit one game per season. Until this season. I've even been offered free tix and declined. The experience sucks. Seating is cramped and uncomfortable. Lines for bathroom are ridiculous. Parking is awful. The product on the field is bland, boring, and predictable.

At least in my living room I can turn it off when it gets unwatchable.

Hey It’s okay to bash Iowa and the performance.. However bashing Kinnick and the experience is a LAUGHABLE JOKE!!!! Sounds like you and the others complaining should just stay home.

I struggled with the decision to buy tickets this late in the season because I didn’t trust that Iowa would be having a good season at this point. Pulled the trigger on 5 tix to the Purdue game, brought my whole family plus my son’s girlfriend and traveled from KC. Stayed at my parentt’s house. Spent well over $500 for tix, tailgating necessities, parking, memorabilia, gyros, pork on sticks, stadium food and drink, boarding 2 dogs back in KC. As the game stunk on, I told my wife to help me remember next year how I felt at that moment so I don’t make the same mistake. I guess I enjoyed it all but the game, but I would much rather have saved the cash in retrospect.

I believe this week they said over a 1000 of the 1600 club seats have been sold. Over $14M of the $25M had been raised by middle of last summer. There still has been a waiting list for the indoor/outdoor club seats in the press box. The top 5% (and corporations) have no problem buying those seats - and they will.

Kinnick itself is fine, yeah sort of cramped but when you are sitting with friends and family who cares, parking is fine since I get there, park, and walk straight to the game, and hardly ever tailgate before the games.

I dont drink alcohol before games and havent in years just so I dont have to use the restrooms. I am and older guy but still can hold it, haha. When the hawks perform like against OSU or 2013, 2015, and many games it is great.

Worst part is the ultra conservative and predictable offense when it is not working. For 100 years the hawks have been up and down, I expect that, I just wish KF would let the players have some fun and try to make some big plays.

Nope. As someone who’s been to Kinninck many, many times and all the B1G stadiums aside from Rutgers and Maryland, the Kinnick experience sucks both from a dollar value standpoint and also comparatively to other schools. It just does.

2015 was fun, but the cramped, shitty seating, ridiculous concessions and bathroom lines (yes even after the reno) makes it a turd. Add in crazy ticket prices and it’s a double turd. Oh and parking blows ass. You want a lesson on how to manage parking...go to Penn State. The U of I has more than enough money to develop better parking and make getting to the stadium easier and cheaper.

Love Kinnick Stadium even with the ridiculous overused sound system. For me, it's like going to a church where I can imagine past fans doing the same generation after generation. You can feel the history, not like the crappy utility buildings some programs use. If you can't appreciate that you don't have to go. That being said the bathrooms and concessions are in serious need of updates. But as always the school is catering to the fat cat 1%ers with their amenities so they can sidestep us unwashed masses waiting 30min. for our nachos.

Sorry it sucked man. As a parent I feel bad for you, especially with the amount of money and effort that gets put into taking a family to a sporting event. It’s not like when you’re 22 and you just show up, find a tailgate to slam beers at, and walk back to wherever you’re crashing for the night.

I live 5 hrs away and didn’t go this year for the first time in at least 22 years, possibly a couple years more. Even if the team is playing well it’s just so much more comfortable to sprawl out on my couch, be warm, and get a better view. Also, when we get a 3rd down sack wiped out by roughing the punter on the next play I can laugh, shut it off, and go rake leaves.

Cue the Violin!!

So, since you apparently don’t have a response to my points you must agree with them at least?

I’m assuming you’re a grown man who graduated from high school, you can do better than cue the violin.

I gave my Wyoming and Illinois tickets to friends so I saw 5 home games this year. Including Michigan and Nebraska games from last year that means I saw 4 really great, exciting wins, in the last 7 games. Those games are Michigan, Nebraska in 2016 and Penn St and OSU this year. N Texas not an exciting game, Minny a big rivalry game that was boring but good.

Point being Kinnick on those very good game days is great. There are ways around the bathroom and concessions stand thing. If you cant sneak in a 16 ounce pop then you are not a good football going fan hahaha.

And being a season ticket holder I long ago started buying the seat backs. I am not the thinnest guy but I have been in rows where there are some really fat Iowans, where a fat couple take up 3 seats, and it is terribly cramped.

With a seatback I have my seating territory and can tell people to slide over.

I would rather see the admin widen the seats a bit maybe losing a few thousand seats altogether to make it more comfortable for the fans.

Similar here. First time since 1990 I didn't buy season tickets. I'm done.
