So, I suspect most of you saw the gaffe where Illinois hung this kid's jersey upside down for the unveiling ceremony. Too good. Made me chuckle, but digging deeper, maybe the universe was speaking. A few thoughts:
First, this was a number retirement. Meaning this kid was so important to Illinois they are treating him the same as Red Fucking Grange???? Um, I honestly don't even remember this kid's name and I am a BTN fan. Guys like Frank Kaminsky or Zach Edey, I remember them because they were epic and there forever. Also, he was at the school for only one season (and as discussed below not a full season), the team made it to the Elite 8 (which is good for sure, but....), and most importantly he was accused of rape half way through the season and had to sit out games until his lawyer got a judge to order his reinstatement (and of course the coach played him). Hell, even he seemed surprised by this whole thing. Illinois doing Illinois things I guess.
