Kids Day Early This Year

I scheduled an extended weekend get away with my son and daughter this weekend thinking the Kids Day event would be held the weekend of the 20th or possibly the 27th. Looks like I will miss out on this event.

The normal procedure is to have Kids Day 2 weeks before the first game.

With two a days still going on I'm wondering why they are having Kids Day this weekend. I've been told there will be some construction going on and they decided to have it this Saturday to avoid the construction.

Anyone know why they decided to have it this weekend?
 
It was 3 weeks before the first game last year, I missed it because we were on vacation.

Edit: For anyone that doesn't click on this link, it is Kids Day Aug 15th of 2009, don't show up Sunday.

It appears Kids day is always the 2nd Saturday in August regardless if the season starts the last Saturday of August (2 weeks before) or the first Saturday of September (3 weeks before).

Seems to me like they always schedule it for the Saturday closest to August 15th:

I have to help my Mom move tommorrow. She sold the house I grew up in, and is moving into a condo. I probably should be sentimental, but I'm beyond curious as to how the o-line is coming along. Seriously thinking of telling her I suddenly have a case of flesh eating bacteria that must be tended to immediately.

What would you do? BTW, she is used to disappointment.

I recall last year I did not attend Kids Day because of another event I hosted (retirement reception) and that was on August 15th.

In the future, I had better keep the middle of August open.
