Yup it's mostly that and a shortage of center types on the O side... I'm a tad bummed as I was really thinking he'd be a heck of a DT. Did Linderbaum play Oline in HS too? Most kids do both sides in HS but in his case I just have no idea.I have to imagine if they are making this move they think he can be a really good player at Center. It seems like our Oline play has kind of been down the last few years, but it appears we could have a nice uptick with the current years class, Linderbaum, and Kallenberger.
The staff must feel comfortable with the DT depth we have as we lose two seniors this year and we are set to lose Reiff and Lattimore after next year. The staff must be high on Nixon and Shannon. I’m not sure if Duwa projects as a DT or DE. Also we could have one of the ends from this class beef up and move inside to DT. Jalen Hunt is listed at 262, seems like a couple years with Doyle he might be a better fit inside.
That makes me feel a whole lot better about it then.He played center in high school. And he was really good.
Here's some film and my evaluation when I saw him play at Solon. I mentioned that I thought center was a good spot for him:

Before reading this I was worried we were just throwing a warm body to center to fill a spot. Good to know he does have experience. The DT position does seem deep next year. I've heard talk of both Nixon and Shannon but not much about Linderbaum so I can see where changing to center might be a good move for Linderbaum to get on the field faster. If you watch the film I shot in the linked story, it shows him playing DT & C.
