KF Supporters & KF Non-Supporters and your job

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict those who still think KF can "fix this" are probably not in positions of management/ownership or have any direct say/input in the financial performance of a private enterprises.

Government workers, teachers, etc. IE your performance or lack thereof, reaps no financial benefit to you or your employer. You are unaccountable in your position.

Under any normal circumstance KF would be terminated for dereliction of duty. He is the Ron Johnson of college football and the team is JC Penney.

I'm in sales and come across people from management to line workers daily and I would love to know where the supporters are, because I don't see see them. Most everyone thinks Ferentz is fine upstanding individual that does things the right and professional way, but lacks in the coaching dept.. I guess Ferentz has lots of closet supporters, that support him behind fake message board names. :)

I nominate this as the stupidest thread of the week.. and that takes something to beat out some of the other candidates.

I think you are absolutely wrong. And to address your attempted slight in your lead-in, there's a 99% chance I have a better job and make a lot more money than you. Or I am lying with the protection of the anonymous message board.

Look at the value of the Iowa football franchise since Ferentz arrived. Look at the state of the facilities, revenue, etc. Iowa football is massively successful. He's won B1G championships and a BCS bowl. He's been to two BCS bowls. He's finished in the top 10 many times (in a row). He is a class act, by all accounts. He has been loyal to Iowa at many times when he was the hot coaching prospect at the pro and college level. He is lauded by college and pro people time and again.

On the down side, he has a bad recent record of performance. The offense is head-scratchingly bad. But the program is relevant and profitable. Iowa is a tiny state. This is not USC or Ohio State. Feel free to fall back into the old retort that acknowledging that Iowa has inherent disadvantages is a) wrong and/or b) a bad excuse.

His on-field performance since 2010 has been mediocre or bad. Iowa fans are frustrated. Many say dumb things as a result of this. Your post is an example.

I don't agree with TC. My name is Gary and I lead an entire department that generates millions of dollars and think the coach is doing a great job!

I'll start by saying that I sadly do believe that KF can't fix this, and I have always been a big supporter of his. I happen to be in a management position, but I think your premise is idiotic.

There are lots of financially irresponsible people in management, and there are lots of financially responsible people who aren't in management. I suppose all military members would be "unaccountable" because they are government employees?

There are really a lot of silly things in your post, but I do have to remember that you're a troll.

Back to the football (vs. political) discussion.

Anyone who has read my threads recently know that I am no supporter of KF as it applies to his on-the-field results over the last 4+ years. However, the OP is wrong on so many levels:

1. All of the big money guys are business owners, senior executives, etc. They are about the ONLY ones right now keeping KF afloat. It's the "little guy" who is crying bloody murder for the most part right now. Mainly because of his salary, but also because it sucks to lay out $500 for a family of 4 (tickets, concessions, gas, etc) and see the suckitude on display and not even be entertained

2. With the exception of on-the-field results, KF's tenure has been a rousing success (how much of that is attributable to him is certainly up for debate, but it always is with any CEO of a company). But we are Top 15 in revenues in the country, Top 10 in overall athletic department income, we have built Taj-Mahals for the football program all over campus, we graduate players and we aren't on probation.

Ironically, the financial performance of the athletic department is top notch. KF is definitely a part of that financial success. So, of course the OP is completely clueless.

Having said that, KF is doing poorly with the talent that he has at his disposal. I'm getting tired of the "poor little Iowa" and "we're not sexy" approach. Our Athletic Department is stackin' papers, and there are no big cities or pro sports teams in Iowa. There is a rabid fan base who fills a stadium and pays big money to see, statistically, the worst athletic department in the BoneG.

I'm sorry, I don't think you understand how management/ownership makes their investments. Most organizations are looking for a positive return on investment. In terms of Kirk Ferentz, Iowa is reaping the rewards. Revenue for the UofI has been high so they're happy.

As soon as that ROI drops then they will look more closely at getting rid of Kirk. As long as fans continue to attend games in droves and people watch Iowa football they will continue to rake in the money and Kirk will stay.

Iowa's not like SEC teams where winning is more important than money.

Pancheros no give money for Carver though. Panchero give other things, most of which I'm not clear why anyone would want. Just saying.
