KF Supporters & KF Non-Supporters and your job

I think you are absolutely wrong. And to address your attempted slight in your lead-in, there's a 99% chance I have a better job and make a lot more money than you. Or I am lying with the protection of the anonymous message board.

Look at the value of the Iowa football franchise since Ferentz arrived. Look at the state of the facilities, revenue, etc. Iowa football is massively successful. He's won B1G championships and a BCS bowl. He's been to two BCS bowls. He's finished in the top 10 many times (in a row). He is a class act, by all accounts. He has been loyal to Iowa at many times when he was the hot coaching prospect at the pro and college level. He is lauded by college and pro people time and again.

On the down side, he has a bad recent record of performance. The offense is head-scratchingly bad. But the program is relevant and profitable. Iowa is a tiny state. This is not USC or Ohio State. Feel free to fall back into the old retort that acknowledging that Iowa has inherent disadvantages is a) wrong and/or b) a bad excuse.

His on-field performance since 2010 has been mediocre or bad. Iowa fans are frustrated. Many say dumb things as a result of this. Your post is an example.

This is not USC, Ohio St or The New York Yankees. What it is is a team that under archives nearly every year under this coach.

Ferentz does allot of things right, unfortunately most of them don't result in winning football games, often times against significantly inferior opponents.

i don't give a **** about profitability if it only results in one good year in the last ten. Profitability will not continue without wins .

the job is to win games and it's not happening.

Its time for him to be done with college football.

Does anyone really think the money would dry up with a change? Tv money wouldnt go anywhere. Licensing money from Ron wouldnt go anywhere. Fans wouldnt go anywhere. The money will be there irregardless of the head coach.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict those who still think KF can "fix this" are probably not in positions of management/ownership or have any direct say/input in the financial performance of a private enterprises.

Government workers, teachers, etc. IE your performance or lack thereof, reaps no financial benefit to you or your employer. You are unaccountable in your position.

Under any normal circumstance KF would be terminated for dereliction of duty. He is the Ron Johnson of college football and the team is JC Penney.
I am confused here. Is the financial performance of the hawkeye football program suffering? Based on your premise ferentz can continue to lose as long as the football program makes money? Do I have that right? You know the more I think about it the more I agree with you. The state of iowa has no business poking around with a university and athletic program. It's nothing but a bunch of lazy govt workers. All those professors doing nothing. And those damn doctors at the u of I hospital. Probably just sleeping through all those surgeries. Sell the school and let private business run the whole show. I'm sure performance would skyrocket.

Let me get this straight, if I worked for the OP I could play Xbox football all day and keep my job as long as I scored lots of points?

To paraphrase Nigel Tufnel on delivery of Spinal Taps "Smell the Glove"...

"And the question becomes...how much more stupid could a post be? And the answer is...NONE...none more stupid"

Hayden Fry actually had two top-ten finishes at Iowa, and one at SMU, and never finished higher than 9th in any final poll. But fans like to remember things differently because he threw the ball more and had better early season top-ten ranked teams.

Hayden Fry's winning percentage at Iowa- .613
Kirk Ferentz at Iowa- .579

The last winning season at Iowa prior to Fry taking over in 1979 was in 1961; when Ferentz took over in 1999 Iowa was only two years removed from a winning season (1997) and a bowl bid. Hayden took Iowa from a decades long conference doormat to a regular contender and bowl participant. Ferentz stepped into an established program who was coming off of one bad season. No comparison. Again, what has Kirk done since 2004? One excellent season.

Not to mention Hayden had 3 non conference games and Kirk has had 4 most of his tenure. Hayden's winning percentage would be even higher, since he seldom lost to teams with inferior talent; something KF takes pride in.
