KF retiring?

My guess is the OP heard some scuttlebutt, and he just popped up to see if anyone else caught wind of it. Nothing the guy (or gal) should get crucified for, that is what message boards are for.

I have a hunch whenever Kirk decides to retire, he will wait to announce it in June. This will helps the odds they just promote somebody from.his staff to be the new head coach.

If it was up to me, if they were to fill the spot internally, I would name Phil Parker the next coach, but it could be Lavar Woods, Seth Wallace, or even Tim Lester, all are realistic choices, I believe.

Phil is 62 years old. I don’t think he will be doing much coaching at all once Kirk rides into the sunset.

Phil has said numerous times over the years that he wants nothing to do with being a head coach.

Someone as good as he is doesn't stay a DC very long, I can promise you he's had plenty of really good offers in college and the NFL.

Nope.

It's why I have an undying appreciation for the guy.
The average lifespan of coordinators is pretty shockingly short. Someone mentioned that here once....and because of the relative longevity I'm exposed to as a Hawk fan it didn't seem right. Until I started paying attention. Makes sense. If you're good, there's more lucrative jobs available as coordinators, in the NFL, or head coach slots If you're trash, you don't stick around.

If nothing else about the Ferentz debate, you have to credit his management/tone/friendship/loyalty when it works out. If a fish stinks from the head down, you have to credit the head when it smells good. And it's worked out with Phil Parker.

I'll say it again. If Phil Parker ever pays for a beer in the state of Iowa, we did it wrong.

How about this question, gentlemen. Would you rather Coach announce his retirement preseason and have a last season, or just retire at an end of a season?

Good point. My earlier comment was not directed at the OP, just meant this gets brought up in general a lot.
