Keys to Indiana

1. Get Vonleh in foul trouble
2. Pound the ball inside
3. Pressure defensively - force TO's

I think Gesell draws Yogi. He might be shorter but is the only guy that has a chance to stay in front of him.

I have only watched IU one time and that was their win against Mich. Yogi was hot shooting the ball and from 3 pt land and he was the main scorer with about 27 that game.

So the hawks should probably have people on him in a no help mode, just focusing on yogi.

Vonleh we can negate if we play smart and not let him get the ball where he wants it based on film.

Sheehy seems like one of the only other guys who could get hot for them but I think basabe uhtoff and others like marble can handle him.

I like us to just run our half court motion and look for mismatches and open guys. I would love to see marble post up yogi, and I think we can get other mismatches

And that was one hell of a block Gesell had late in the psu game, he went way up and I wasnt sure he got it until the announcer gave it do him.

There's a lot here to agree with above.
Here's my keys to winning Tuesday:
IN doesn't have a good A/T ration because Ferrell isn't good statistically there because he's IN's primary offensive option as well as being their PG.
So: #1) Keep Yogi below his average. I think this has to be a group effort. Fran describes him as "one of the best players (Yogi Ferrell) in the country with the ball" for a reason.

IA and IN are #1 and #2 in B1G rebounding. It's one area where IN is statistically good this year.
So: #2) Pound the boards. A good start to that will be to block out Vonieh, wherever he is, since he leads the B1G in boards.

Do these 2 things and IA will win handily. But that might be easier said than done.

Yogi is the only key. They only have one other weapon and Schrute has no clue how to utilize his skills. Keep Yogi under 10 and IU might not score 40. Basically we need to do whatever it was that Northwestern did to them.

Schrute. I get it.

The most absolutely important key to this game is Wild Bull Pumfus! Go bodyslam those redcoats. Shred their red colors, paint their court BLACK AND GOLD . and give Tom Cream your pants black eyes!! What are we afraid? We're the HAWKS!

Precisely, Atomic.....

If they continue to lose games they might have to bite the financial bullet and give the boot to Crean.....

With the recruiting classes he has had, he has failed. His only claim to fame is beating number one Kentucky one tme.....

We are the better team...have to play below average to lose IMO. Marble should have a big offensive game...rarely struggles back to back.

I agree Iowa has to play kind of poor for IU to make it a game. It could happen - we don't need any 3-20 from 3 performance.

I really want the conf title talk to live on for at least a few more days. Cmon Hawks don't let it die too quickly.

I agree with the first three. But are you saying Gesell at 6'2" is shorter than Farrell at 6'0"? Or are you saying that Gesell is shorter than Marble, the other starter who may guard Yogi? I say tag team Gesell, Clemmons and Marble on him and wear him out.

Hit him hard and wear him down with Gesell and Sapp, and then mix in Marble a lot more when he starts settling for jumpers. Marble can more effectively contest those shots with his length.

Ya I think this is pretty much it. Some of the games the Hawks got beat, they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Iowa shot 40% in the last game and won by a dozen points.

The keys are holding the opponents' shooting percentage around 40% or below, not allowing a bunch of second chances off rebounds, forcing a bunch of turnovers where the Hawks can get easy buckets or push the ball to get long shots (open looks) in transition, and playing aggressively to get to the FT line often. The Hawks have been doing all these things all year for the most part and even a bad shooting night will not stop them from winning.

I can't see a way we lose if we show up to play on the defensive end. Indiana doesn't have the offensive firepower to score if we're playing at our best on defense...IMO.

I can't see a way we lose if we are making shots.

Same here. If Iowa shoots well, it is nearly impossible to beat. In Iowa's losses, it has shot poorly from the outside. If Iowa can hit some 3's, they will roll.

IMO, gotta start quick, take the crowd out of the game, and don't let IU gain confidence.

the keys is, just show up. If we stay focused this game isn't even close.

Exactly. The Hawks have to play with full intensity from the opening tip until the clock is at zero in the 2nd half. They do this and everything will take care of itself. Don't get beat to loose balls like they did in the last 5 minutes of the 1st half against PSU.

We shot well in the first Michigan game and lost but Michigan gas a good offense. Make shots and don't let Yogi go nuts and we win by 10 or 15, maybe more.
