KENO!

If Iowa finds itself in the market for a new coach, I think Keno's name would be on the list somewhere.

The big challenge for Keno, or any new coach (hypothetically at this time), will be whom they bring is as assistants and how well they can recruit. Recruiting is going to be the biggest challenge.

Now, I also think the style of play Keno employs is something that would be a complete paradigm changer in the Big Ten right now...just as it was in 1986 when his dad was hired. And I think that style allows teams with inferior overall talent to play above their individual talent levels. We saw that a lot in the Mr. Davis era. And at Iowa, I think you have to have a gimmick like that to compete.

I look at what Mike Anderson has done at Missouri...and that is a conference that has had better athletes playing in it the last two or three years, collectively, than the Big Ten..and it has had better teams. And Missouri has had success...Elite Eight last year, and this year, losing several key players from last year's team, they are 22-10 and back in the tournament.

If Keno not only would get a top notch recruiter on staff, but also someone who could coach tough position man to man D(like Bo does at UW) and add that to the pressure D, that would be very potent. It would be interesting to see the swing O operate against Bo, as they use it too(and Close is on the staff, a Davis disciple too), it would be the BB version of when Barry went to UW and took the IOWA system and when they played each other it had that mirror effect.

Jon D Miller:

You want Keno as the next head coach - do you not?

I could see Keno bringing in another former player to help out recruiting.

Keno and Rodell are coming to town!!!

I'm excited....

Keno - You guys will love him, He's a Hawk through and through, good recruiter, son of Tom Davis, young, ambitious, plays uptempo game, good PR skills. Lacks a little experience, but learned from one of the best.

Bruce Pearl would be good, but Iowa can't afford him and personally I think Keno will be great here. Rodell is a heck of a recruiter and once again a true hawk!

Get up!

The Peanut Gallery has spoken.

Keno better learn there are two ends of a basketball court. Defense is not optional...especially in the B10.

You learn offense, you play defense. Defense is a mentality.

Yes Keno's team didn't win a lot of games. But there is a big difference between teams on the way up with a losing record and losing teams that don't show a glimmer of hope.

While I agree defense is a mentality, there can be changes made on defense (and overall style) to make a team more effective. Look at how Notre Dame has changed since Harrongoty (sp?) was hurt and has come back, but off the bench. They changed their style of play to keep the score down and their defensive focus has turned up. It allowed ND to stay in more games to the end. Coach Brey decided to change because of personnel and it has worked for the most part.

I do agree on the difference between teams that are improving and teams that seemingly have no hope. Providence lost their last 11 games (I believe). It will be interesting to see how next year goes for them.
