When you fill a stat sheet on the road in the B10 in 22 minutes...you need to see the floor for at least 25 minutes a game. I really don't think the points and rebounds tell the whole story. He tipped a few balls under the rim and kept balls alive that he didn't get credit for. He's doing way more than what is in the stat line. His basketball IQ is pretty high...which you would expect considering who his dad is. He's just competing.

I'm sorry, but defensively...we are a much better team with Murray on the floor. On offense, it allows Weiskamp to play against a smaller player in most situations and Weiskamp has shown he's improved tremendously taking the ball to the hole. He can overpower people...and he didn't get a few calls yesterday at the rim too.

This Murray kid is good.

He was overwhelmed by the moment in the Gonzaga game other than that he has been solid. I don't have a problem with him getting more minutes. It is obvious the kid can play.

Depending on how hurt Connor is we could be seeing a lot more of Keegan. He is turning into a beast and I still can't believe he's only a freshman.

The recruiting services really missed the mark on Keegan and, thanks to Fran, Iowa is benefiting.

His biggest issue against Gonzaga was the zone. He looked lost, but he should have because of how poorly constructed it was. Fredrick was in the same spot on the zone and he was lost too. Had to defend the cut to the basket and the corner 3.

After watching Murray the last 2 games, he looks average in the zone. That's not an insult he just has work to do in that area. Knowing the type of player he has been as far as his progression in concerned, I have no doubt that he'll be good in the zone soon.

Having said that, Kenyon is my favorite all-time Hawk, mostly because his stat line is never outstanding. He wasn't going to go 25 and 12, but he does everything, is all over the floor, and does everything and rarely screws up.

He leads the team in steals, is second in blocks, is shooting 44% from 3, AND only has 6 turnovers on the year.

Just like dad.

He was the best player on the floor for a stretch of it. Without CM we had a hell of a time feeding Garza. Which was too bad and they need to figure out how to get others better at it. Because they couldn't slow him down. Garza is beyond ridiculous he was so efficient.
But yes if it wasn't for Murray doing all he did we'd have lost. It was a 2 pt game any one of the many plays he made was diference making. I bet we see him take some of Nunges mins is my guess....

If CJ, Bohannon and Keegan keep making teams pay for making it difficult to feed Garza, its eventually not going to be so difficult to feed Garza. Joe W is capable of going off as well.

It will only benefit Iowa. Luka draws a ton of attention, but teams are not going to simply let our snipers cut it loose either. That’s a conundrum for them to worry about.

That stat line is incredible! He is going to get his share of minutes, you can't not play the kid. I love seeing him on the floor, he is a game changer. Quick hops, couldn't believe the shot block against their big guy. How many freshman even get their nose in there and try that? Gonna be a special Hawk!

Kenyon waay Tough. And another son...

My favorite play that Keegan made was him guarding Harper one on one and Harper does a crossover and gets to the elbow, elevates, and Murray blocks the shot...that was a big moment in the game late. Harper is a veteran now, and is a tough guard and knows how to get his shot off. He couldn't against Keegan's length. Good stuff.

I was actually surprised to see him see more minutes or his minutes increase, which is good. I've been harboring for that. He's actually getting some of Patrick's minutes which surprised me. Didn't know if Fran would be objective in that regard.

He's done what I tell my boys, play so hard and with effort that the coach can't afford to have you on the floor. He's done that with that terrific OVERALL game as you point out. I just have a certain comfort level when he's on the floor.

Yeah I agree. The guy is a play maker. He is also that x-factor that can make plays when things break down. But like you said, he really is a guy that gives a you a level of comfort on the floor. You never think he is going to make a bad play even though that is impossible.

I think you mean...

"can't afford not to have you on the floor."

Haha, sorry man...had to bust your berries there :)
