KC chiefs player commits suicide 0fficial thread

Maybe he got wind of the rumors that Ferentz was being looked at for Chief's HC.

And bringing Greg and Phil with him.

Sounds like this dude had some serious issues and should have been in treatment and detox, not playing on Sundays. Nice monitoring and awareness, Chiefs. Y'all are winners.

Got a link to that story? I still haven't heard any of the investigation details.

I hate Bob Costas and NBC. He spends 5 minutes during the game to give a lecture about handgun safety and a talk about "taking handguns away from people". Pisses me off to no end.

You're ****** off because he expressed his opinion? I think you might want to remind yourself of the country you're living in. I'm glad he chose to express his opinion, regardless of whether I agree with it. (My personal opinion is that gun control is futility in the USA.) I generally applaud journalists who refuse to ignore the elephant in the room. I mean the guy did in fact whack the mother of his child and then himself with a handgun. Somebody oughta talk about it.

So the handgun killed them and not Belcher?

I was under the impression that he killed her and then himself with a handgun. Are those not the facts of the case? Look, I know where this is going. Some of y'all need guns to enhance your virility. Fine, whatever. Just keep in mind that the gun you're packing is way, way more likely to be used to jack you or your wife and/or kids than it is to be deployed against some criminal home invader. Those are just the cold hard statistical facts. I could care less if you guys run around like cowboys and indians with your 9mm's or whatnot...just try to refrain from playing stupid and denying the fact that handguns are highly efficient homicide enablers, and in fact designed precisely for that purpose. I pondered packing heat back in the day when I used to drive through some unsavory neighborhoods, and I knew exactly why I was gonna procure it...and it wasn't so I could shoot wild turkeys.

Like I said though, I think gun control is probably unconstitutional and definitely futile, so arguing policy against me is in effect arguing against yourself. You must however concede the point that handguns exist for the specific purpose of killing human beings. That is why they exist. That is not debatable. And every time some nut uses said guns to kill people, the first thing you guys claim is that guns don't kill people. It's bizarre. Yes, guns are inanimate objects. So... People with guns kill people. How about that? Fair enough?

No. I don't need to watch it. I don't care what his opinion is. My point is that he chose to opine on a controversial issue germane to the occurrence, and for that I respect him. There's few things worse than a gutless journalist. You can find those kinds of people all over the "news," especially on Sunday mornings. I'm simply giving him props for refraining from gutlessness. Apparently he offended the hell out of you. You should thank him for having the balls to do so.

First of all, how much less could you care?

Second, yes guns are killing machines, but I doubt that if you had a gun in the bad neighborhood that you would have gone on a killing spree, correct?

FTR, I own no gun but I did go shooting for the first time ever yesterday and it was awesome.

A simple no would have sufficed since I stopped at that point.

I grew up rural and used to blow the sh%t out various objects with a 12 guage and 22. Had a pistol around the house too but Papa Thunder kept that thing locked away, never to be seen except on the rarest of occasions. Pistols are a little more fun to shoot, yes, but I guess I'm kind of over it. Something to be left behind. Yeah, I enjoy target practice, but I can get my rocks off with an XBox or whatnot if I feel the need.

In any event, it is true to a point that "guns don't kill people." Kind of like "bats don't hit home runs." Of course an operator is required. But we live in a gun culture with way too many people who use guns pretty recklessly and that does in fact kill people. A lot of people. Most of whom probably don't have it coming.

I think we should all be wary of roided out ballers packing heat. That usually ain't gonna end well.
