Kaleb Brown Looking to Build on Big Catch

I hate to be the asshole here, but is that enough for him to want to stick around?

Hard to say.. Maybe depending on who new OC ends up being and Cade coming back. But I could see him and half the WR room and Labas all bailing before a new OC is named. Maybe a RB as well that room is getting crowded too. The portal opens Dec 4th I believe. That'll be an interesting day I bet

He said the right things on Tuesday. I was impressed with him taking ownership of what got him in the doghouse, working to get out of it and him wanting to take advantage of this opportunity.

Rob, from reading the article I didn't see any mention of any actions that got him in a doghouse. Can you elaborate on this? Was it just a period of being frustrated and disinterested that he went through this year?

Was it his own doghouse or did he do something that KF had to deal with?

I will never understand how we can’t just get him the damn ball on a slant route a couple times a game.

I said it in another thread but I think it would be difficult to leave when he would have to sit out another year. I guess he would have to weigh what is best for him: sit out another entire year, or plow into another year here and hopefully grow as a player.

This situation is not the same as for someone who came to Iowa and wanted to leave for whatever reason. i.e. Fully eligible to transfer without consequences.

That would certainly be a huge thing to consider... And the guy has all but sat out this yr. He really hasn't played much. Maybe since he's out of the doghouse he'll pay more down the stretch here. I just find it wild they can't creatively find some ways to get the ball in his hands. They don't have to just throw it up deep to him. Putting guys in motion is the best way. Gives them a two way go to read the D after the snap with a head of steam. We used to be good at running screen passes but we have little to no success with those anymore either. Seems like way too many 3rd down plays Iowa doesn't even try to convert they just try to not turn it over.

He was held out of the Purdue game for what KF said were "personal reasons." He slipped up. Nothing major.

The fact we are celebrating our 4* transfer WR's first and only catch of the year after 9 games tells us everything we need to know about the state of the Iowa offense.

I hate that Vines had to get hurt for Brown to emerge, but it's got to make you wonder why Brown was behind Vines on the depth chart all year.

I think Kaleb has taken some personal responsibility for his earlier transgressions. I think that he and Anderson will the primary targets the next two weeks, other than Ostrenga I should add.
